Heavy duty & has a blade guard. Handle does not have nonslip material & is not ergonomical. Handle is not comfortable for long periods of use. Peeler feels very oversized & awkward in hand but works very well. Peels very deeply. Blade is serrated and aggressive. Works well on thick skinned fruits & vegs. I don't recommend this peeler for thin skinned potatoes, small whole carrots or apples. The peeler is perfect for thick skinned potatoes, yams, cantaloupe, watermelon & sweet potatoes. Giftable.

    Excellent quality. It works very well. It was easy to peel my potatoes. Its size fit my hand perfectly and didn’t hurt my palms like other lesser quality peelers. Great value for the money. I chose black because my kitchen is black and chrome.
    I’m slightly disabled in my right arm and I have trouble holding the cheaper peelers and they caused pain in my palm and I had trouble hanging onto them. I couldn’t wait to try this one. I’m thankful I did.

    The KitchenAid Classic peeler works great! It is very sharp. Replacing my decades old peeler was a surprise realizing how dull the old one must have been.
    I loved how the new KA one peeled carrots, apples, and potatoes. But I wasn't paying enough attention. I sliced the side of my index finger- took a centimeter of flesh!
    The KA peelers work great- just be careful!

    This peeler is sharp and peels everything....including your fingers..LOL, so be careful. For most things I peel in the direction that goes away from me, but some items I peel towards me..NO, not with this peeler. I've cut myself several times. Having said that, I MUCH prefer it for celery as it does a better job than the older Kitchen Aid peelers.
