I love this cup: it's slightly transparent so you can tell how much water it has, the weighted bottom helps avoid spills, straw is perfect size/length and durable to teeth, can fit in my 13 m/o one hand, holds enough water for a small trip... It would be nice if it was leak proof (but honestly it's making a good teaching point) - if knocked over not much, if any, will spill, however a toddler dumping it upside down, trying repeatedly to shake contents out, will indeed cause a "spill".
I bought a second one because I liked it so much.

I spent way too much time researching baby cups and ultimately chose this one after my friend recommended it. Overall I like it, but there's room for improvement.

    Pros:
-Easy for my 8 month old to drink out of! We had tried several other cups with minimal success.

-Easy to wash and they include a straw brush.

-The straw has a stopper part way down so the baby can't pull it out. I've had other straw cups with a stopper at the bottom of the straw, those are still a hassle bc the child can pull it out almost all the way to play with and then the bottom of the straw is above the level of the liquid. The Olababy straw has the stopper about 2 inches up from the bottom so it keeps the straw at exactly the right spot, with the bottom of the straw at the bottom of the cup.

-No sweating bc of the silicone, nice! Sweaty cups just are hard for little hands to hold onto and make an even bigger mess.

-Sides are straight, but the grippy silicone means baby cup straps been still be used with it.

-This silicone doesn't seem to attract hair and lint as badly as many.

-Small capacity. My baby is drinking at most one ounce at a time and doesn't need an 8 oz cup. 4 oz will be great for several more months.

    Cons:
-You can only wash this with unscented soap or else your poor child will be drinking Palmolive flavored water forevermore. I use plain Dr Bronner's.

-Even with unscented soap, the cup will still make the water taste weird within about half an hour. I worry about stuff leaching into the water if odd flavors leach into it. This means this is a cup I will only use at meal times and store empty in the diaper bag. Having to bring a separate bottle of water to fill the baby's cup is kind of obnoxious.

-No cap! This means it can't be stored cleanly in the diaper bag. I either need to accept the straw will possibly get dirty, or store it in a wet bag, which again, is just kind of obnoxious.

-The cap can pop off if the sides of the cup are squeezed bc the silicone flexes. It's game over if the baby figures this out but the cup isn't super squishy and I feel like as long as no one shows my baby how to do this, she won't figure it out for a while. They could have put a ring of plastic around the top inside of the cup to give it more rigidity so this wouldn't happen. I know people are all excited about no plastic in baby cups, but the ring would only need to be in contact with the sides of the lid, not the water.

So all in all, I like this cup and would recommend it. A few tweaks would make it absolutely perfect: a stainless steel interior so nothing leaches into the water, a cap that doesn't pop off (incidentally, The stainless steel interior would take care of that issue), and a cap would make this completely perfect.

Wonderful little cup! Saw this as a recommendation from a SLP page (Eat Play Say) and loved it! You can gently squeeze the cup to help water go up the straw which was great when teaching our 6mo old how to drink out of a straw and now she has mastered it. The stopper is great so LO can't pull the straw out and the lack of a valve helps water flow easily for baby. Though, because there is no valve it is not "no spill" but despite that there really is minimal spillage. Easy to clean (just 3 pieces) and easy for tiny hands to hold!

If I spent as much time studying in school as I have researching baby cups I could have gotten a doctorates degree. And after everything... I still haven't found the perfect cup, but I haven't given up hope. I like this cup a lot, I got this cup when baby was 7 months to help transition from bottles to straws and cups, baby is 11 months now and I use this cup more than any others.

Things I like: It's so cute! I really love the color and that its opaque so I can see how much liquid is in it. It's really easy for my baby to hold. The straw has a stopper so it cant be pulled out. It has a lid and it fits really well. It's super easy to clean (I only hand wash it as silicone can end up holding soap flavor). It has a flared bottom and that's always important. The cup has ounce markers.

Things I don't like/wish were different: Volume, I wish it was a little larger, if you fill it too close to the top and put the lid on you will have an overflow, so I can only fill it 3/4th full and need to get a refill through dinner. If the cup is full and it tips over (a.k.a the baby throws it overboard) liquid will spill out of the straw. And lastly price, felt like a lot of money to spend on a cup... but I bought it anyway because I'm desperately seeking perfection.

It's pretty good, until I find my perfect match, this one is at the top of my recommend list for a first transition cups.

I rated a 3 star because while it doesn't leak from it being dropped or turned over but it does leak when the baby pulls on the straw and cup and the lid slightly opens

4.0 out of 5 stars Good option for home use if you want a cup with a straw
Reviewed in Germany on May 10, 2024
    Size: 9 ozColor: LilacVerified Purchase
I bought this because my toddler likes to stick her hands inside her drinking cups and also because (I find) the metal straws we have could be dangerous (risk of getting eyes poked or something else) so far it's working well. We're mostly using it at home and on short walks to or from the daycare or maybe the grocery store.

    Pros:
-it has a lid and it holds the straw in place making it easy to drink from and keeping the mess to a lesser degree than if we were using a normal cup with a straw.
-Easy to hold for my almost 2 year old.
    - It has volume indicators to track how much liquid was consumed.
-The parts are very easy to clean
-the cup also weighs a bit more (thicker base) than the usual drinking cups so its a bit more stable and doesn't get knocked over easily compared to ordinary plastic cups.
    Cons:
-it isn't leak proof or spill proof (not that they claim it is) so it's not ideal cup to use when you're on the go.

Our 17 month old likes to throw things. She was walking and threw the cup on the floor, and the cup opened very easy - the drink spilled everywhere. While my toddler was amused, I was quite disappointed! The cup is very well made, a little bit chunky but it doesn't close well. Can't imagine the mess we would have had if the little one threw it from the highchair! It's a pity really because I ordered two of these and they will just sit in the cupboard.
