    I have been looking for a denim jacket that is neither cropped nor oversized and this one is the perfect length. I wear medium tops and ordered a medium jacket. I was pleased that the arms were long enough and liked the mid-hip length (I am 5' 7" , 140lbs with long arms and torso). But it is 100% cotton denim and therefore not as soft or stretchy as a lot of other denim. The arms are kind of a close fit so if you have broad shoulders or thicker arms you may want to size up. I could wear the jacket with a thin long sleeve shirt or sweater, but wouldn't try to layer it with anything bulky. I am not sure why the description says it is a "loose" fit. Maybe different colors are cut differently? I ordered faded carbon and really like the color. It cost a little more than I liked ($60) but it does seem well made.
