Wanted a quiet fan that moved more air than previous ceiling fan. This unit fills the bill perfectly. I have the unit installed in 17' x 17' room with an 18' vaulted ceiling. Even on the lowest setting the fan provides a nice subtle breeze throughout the room. It is very quiet (cannot hear it). When first installed it seems to go to full speed for about 10 seconds before slowing to the desired speed. At first it was very annoying but we no longer notice this now (even at full speed you don't hear the fan).
Also nice that the fan can be reversed from the wall switch (you don't have to get to the fan to do so).
There is indeed a remote for the fan. You have to purchase it separately. It is NOT the standard 3-spd remote. We called Hunter and they not only identified the proper remote but also took payment over the phone and had it shipped.
My unit arrived damaged (light cover). Hunter shipped the replacement parts arrived within a week.
I am very pleased and highly recommend for larger volume rooms. My previous large ceiling fan does not compare to this.
