The difference between Mineral and Standard Sunscreen

All mineral sunscreen uses zinc oxide which sits ON TOP of skin to reflect harmful rays. Although the Pipette formula rubs on smoothly with the help of super-hero ingredient SQUALANE, depending on skin color there may appear a slight difference in skin tone and mostly goes away after a few minutes.

  • Mineral sunscreen creates a barrier that deflects UV rays from the skin’s surface and stops them from penetrating. A chemical sunscreen penetrates into the skin and absorbs the sun's rays, where they are converted into heat and then released.

  • Squalene is a skin-moisturizing superhero all babies are born with, but it depletes over time. Our stable version, renewable, sugarcane-derived squalane, helps sunscreen glide on, adding weightless moisture to help bring natural balance to the skin.

  • While our formula is designed to not leave a white cast on any skin color, all mineral sunscreens are unable to be completely clear as the zinc oxide sits on TOP of skin to reflect the rays. So depending on skin tone, it may appear slightly different

  • Because of their vulnerable skin, pediatricians recommend babies be kept out of the sun as much as possible for the first 6 months. After that, they can start wearing sunscreen for extra protection. Our formula is supremely gentle and non-irritating.

  • Apply generously from head to tiny toes fifteen minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours and use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating. Limit sun exposure especially from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

    I used to use this product years ago and never had a problem. So, I decided to try again, and I put it on at 10 am by 6 pm my face was itching. When I looked in the mirror, I was red and swollen and hot to the touch. As a woman of color, I was really hoping this worked for me because it was the only mineral sunscreen that didn't leave a very noticeable skin cast, I could cover it up with makeup usually. Now I can't use this product at all, I'm distrustful of this brand, because something has definitely changed in the formula to cause such irritation. As a black woman I rarely get red, but I do have eczema, this product made my face red, and itchy and hot. I'm on day two of this pain but it does seem to be getting a little better.

    My home treatment after finding this catastrophe on my face was washing my face with Aveeno oatmeal sensitive skin facial cleanser then slathering my face in Eucerin thick rich cream and Vaseline. Never scratch, so I spent the night putting ice wrapped in paper towels on my face, the ice is the only thing that sooths the itchy hot feeling. This morning, I woke up and the red has lessened but my face is still itching. I hope that it gets better, and I don't have to go to urgent care. If irritation continues for more than 5 days my next action will be an urgent care visit to get prescribed prednisone, or a steroid shot but I hope it does not come to such an extreme measure to stop the irritation. If it wasn't for the other 1-star reviews, I would have doubted it was this product. I thank the other ladies who reported the same problem because I would have assumed it was another product. I hope my review helps someone that is dealing with the same reaction. Please don't buy this product it is no longer safe!
