About the author

For more than a decade, Corinne Crossley, LMHC has worked in private practice with people struggling in their relationship to food and their bodies. Always passionate about this work, Corinne grew especially inspired to work with moms once she herself became a mother. Walking the path of motherhood affirmed for her how difficult the balance of self-care is for mothers while they strive to take care of everyone else. From this inspiration and years of clinical work, Self-Care for New Moms: Thriving Through Your Postpartum Year was born.
Corinne’s warm style and easy laugh are found both in her clinical work and writing. She is the host of the Momma Bites! podcast found on Apple podcasts and Spotify. Momma Bites! features interesting and candid interviews with experts from the fields of intuitive eating, exercise, sleep, pelvic floor health, mental health, sex, and body image — who also happen to be moms.
When not in session, recording podcasts, or reviewing math homework, Corinne might be found trying to squeeze in time on her yoga mat, falling asleep in front of a movie, or baking chocolate chip cookies from memory.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this for my sister-in-law, who is a new mom. I wish it was available when I had my kids! There are some great ideas in here for new moms, and it makes a great gift that tells the mom not to forget about herself when everyone is focused on the baby!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2021Format: PaperbackI highly recommend this book for all moms ( and dads too!) It covers so many important parts of postpartum that you may otherwise not be prepared for. My favorite chapter that I have highlighted is the section on being a good enough parent. We all have those days and sometimes Reading a gentle reminder of that goes a long long way in mental health. I will be getting all my expecting friends copies!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2021Format: PaperbackWith wisdom, honesty, and humor, author Corinne Crossley expertly covers what to expect post-partum, leaving no stone of self-care unturned. Practical advice is generously offered, taking into consideration that each experience is “same same but different”. Using the metaphor of scuba diving, Crossley takes the reader with her into the unknown, making it knowable through her own experiences and through the lenses of clients, colleagues and experts in the field. Highly recommended.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI didn’t learn anything new from this book ; seemed like common sense info to me , but I am an older mom .. perhaps it might be of more use to a younger new mom .
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2023Format: PaperbackI strongly suggest this book to all parents, including moms and dads. It addresses various crucial aspects of postpartum that you may not be adequately prepared for. The chapter I particularly enjoyed and marked is the one about being a sufficient parent. We all experience challenging days, and having a gentle reminder of this can greatly benefit our mental well-being.
