Benefits
STRENGTHEN YOUR FRIENDSHIP
Few things in life are as fun as spending quality time with our best friends. Included in the deck are topics you may not usually talk about like deep thoughts about life and experiences that can lead to deep, open discussion to strengthen your relationship further. With 400 questions, there's so much to talk about!
EASY & FUN BONDING ACTIVITY
Ask, share, and listen to grow closer! Get 2 games in 1 deck and use the This or That Game on the sides of the cards as fun conversation starters. Have fun discussing the answers and discover things you might not know about your best friend.
Note: The This or That prompts are unrelated to the question prompts.
A HUGE VARIETY OF QUESTIONS
The questions on the cards were carefully selected from Prompta's huge list of over 4,500 questions and were made so that each one encourages sharing and leads to meaningful conversations. Questions are printed on double-sided cards to ensure you get the most value for your money.

We designed this deck so you can get to know your best friend even better. With 400 questions, the deck aims to strengthen your friendship by providing questions you may not usually ask your best friend. Included in the cards are the This and That prompts, a simple game to test out just how well you know your bestie's preferences. Celebrate your friendship and nourish it as you create more memories together!
How to Use the Question Cards
STEP 1
Choose a card from the deck and ask the question in the middle of the card.
STEP 2
Take turns answering the question on the middle of the card.
STEP 3
Flip the card and repeat step 2. Enjoy a fulfilling conversation and learn more about your best friend, being sure to share about yourself too!
STEP 4
Pass the deck to your best friend and repeat all steps. Use the divider card to set aside used cards and avoid repeating questions.
How to Play This or That
STEP 1
Draw a random card and rotate to ask the (1) This or (2) That prompts on the sides of the card to your best friend.
Note: The This or That prompts are unrelated to the question prompts.
STEP 2
You guess which your best friend will choose. It's a fun challenge to see how well you really know them and how they think.
STEP 3
When you're both ready, count "1, 2, 3." and on "go!" both of you put out either 1 finger for This or 2 fingers for That.
STEP 4
Have fun discussing the results and seeing if you guessed correctly. Then pass the box to your best friend and repeat the previous steps so you both get a turn.

FAQ 1: Can this be played with a group?
Yes! This deck was designed with a single best friend in mind, but if you have several very close friends you can play as a group. We mixed different kinds of questions, from light icebreakers to deeper personal questions, so anyone can have fun while also learning about each other.

FAQ 2: Is this teenager-friendly?
Yes. Although the questions are designed for adult best friends, we kept all questions appropriate for younger users. Besties of all ages can enjoy the cards with meaningful and fun conversations.

FAQ 3: Can this be played on video calls?
Definitely. These cards aim to spark conversations and connect people no matter where they are in the world. These conversation starters are great for catching up with your best friend and spending time together even if you're across the country (or world!) from each other.

FAQ 4: Is this an actual game with rules and a winner?
This is a deck of question cards meant to start conversations. There are no hard rules and no winner. This or That is a game but has no scoring. The end goal is to have fun and meaningful conversations, deepen relationships, learn from each other, and grow closer together.

Small, convenient conversation ideas

- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2025My best friend of 10 years and I love to go through these types of cards. We're loving this deck so far!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2023So the first thing that struck me when I received this is how SMALL it is. I do not have the biggest hands in the world, and I can almost completely envelop the box. It would sit easily in a car's little mid-compartment or an old school lunch box, and a six year old could easily lug it around one-handed.
Despite that fact, the prompts for the "main game" of conversation are large enough that even people with glasses won't have a hard time with it. The secondary game, which is basically a "which is better" game that is prompted along the card's edges, it a bit more difficult to read (though still not bad) and it isn't really intuitive at first glance. They put 1s and 2s next to the choices, I guess for ease of reference. For example, a card says fruits with a 1 next to it on one edge and vegetables with a 2 next to it on the other edge, and I guess you're supposed to say you like option 1 or 2 better. At first I thought they were points for keeping score, but there's no actual game to the game, it really is just about spurring conversation.
Now, the conversations themselves are pretty broad range compared to some of the other more expensive products of its type out there. A certain other card company like this, which shall remain nameless, charges about 40% more for a similar product and has a lot of replication in the their prompts. These are genuinely very different and fairly intriguing. Examples:
1) How much ego is too much? Whose ego makes it hard to handle them?
2) Which fictional character do you think we could be really good friends with?
3) When do you put on a façade and hide your true self?
The questions are a tad more personal than other products, and really do lean on the idea that the person you're playing with is someone whom you are very close to.
One last thing worth mentioning, they have this really neat yellow card that comes in it that can be folded in half with the word "Unasked" in big letters; this is intended to let you pick up where you left off and actually tackle the cards in order. It's a unique little perk and really useful, even if you're like us and like to skip around in the box, because you can just make sure at the end that your "used" cards go to one side.
Overall, very much worth the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023I've been friends with my partner for about 17 years, but we have been together in a relationship for nearly 1 year now. I thought it would be fun to get to know each other more—even though we feel like we know each other very well now. This game comes with a bunch of open ended questions to really understand how others playing thinks and the reasons behind these thoughts. After playing a game or two, we really found this a fun activity to not only learn more about each other, but the underlying reasons on why we think this way. I feel a much stronger bond with my partner now just from talking different hypothetical siutations.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2024I can't say enough about the thought and care that went into designing this game. It's a wonderful way to spark conversation and get to know others on a deeper level. Multiple ways to play means you'll be playing this for years to come. I'm VERY happy with this!! The questions are thought provoking and insightful... bringing out the best in even those who don't normally chat much.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023Some things I genuinely enjoy about this product include its small size, the double-sided & dual-nature of the cards, the volume of content for the list price of $17 (about 800 interactions, which is on par with certain journaling experiences), and the fact that some inquiries are unique to this deck/actually pertain to friendships. Additionally, the grammar seems well regarded throughout the cards.
Beyond those things, I'm not over-the-moon for what this is. Because so many journals already offer (in some cases) thousands of additional prompts for the same price, this product sees you paying a definite premium for the convenience of questions in card-form. These questions are things you've seen elsewhere if you've done any journaling, or handled question cards before. A number of the prompts (especially among the "This OR That" cards) are repeated from one deck to the next (EX: Rap OR Rock can be found in this deck, as well as the "Co-Workers" deck). The copy/paste happening here is so blatantly obvious here that you'll find "400 Prompts to Ask Co-Workers" in the first product photo here, on the side of a box for a "Best Friends" deck. Also, while the cards themselves function in clear fashion, the box is entirely too busy. The majority of these questions don't pertain directly to friendships. And, lastly, there are no winners or losers, objectives, strategies to be employed, etc. here. So calling this a game is quite a stretch.
Still, I've seen this sort of unoriginal, evergreen type of cash-grab done in horrible fashion by way of comparison to this one. Therefore, as long as you're seeing it on sale, have no other question cards or journals, and know repetition awaits should you buy more of the products in this line, then I'd say give them a shot.
