Elegant, delicious, nourishing
A sophisticated, yet simple take on cooking with whole foods.
Creamy Mushroom Miso Soup with Gomasio + Toasted Sesame Oil + Scallions
This dream team of mushrooms, miso, and sesame seeds is so comforting in the fall and wintertime. Miso and mushrooms both have medicinal properties, and this soup is just as nourishing as it is flavorful.
Wild Rice Salad with Snap Peas + Avocado + Radish + Sesame Ginger Dressing
I like to add rice to my salad-it gives it great texture and makes a salad feel like a full meal. I am even more inclined to throw in some rice when I have leftovers from the night before.
Lentil + Tomato + Olive Baked Cod with Lemon Caper Vinaigrette
It is always great to have a couple of impressive dinner dishes that you can throw together for a party or to feed a crowd without having to do a lot of dishes. This baked fish recipe is perfect for an impromptu gathering.
Kale + Olive Pesto, Tomato + Shallot + Garlic Confit, Arugula + Walnut Pesto
I am a big believer that condiments are the secret weapon for throwing together a delicious meal in no time and making it feel like something special.
Thai Peanut Sweet Potato Skins
These unique potato skins are perfect nibbles to bring to a party or a potluck. It turns out that peanut sauce pairs beautifully with sweet potatoes, and with the addition of nuts, basil, and scallions as toppings, these are crazy delicious.
Miso Oats with Scallions + Sesame Oil
I often rely on oatmeal for a quick breakfast, and adding miso and scallions is a simple way to switch up my routine when I am in the mood for savory, umami flavors in the morning.
Roasted Eggplant Salad with Rice Noodles + Green Herb Tahini
Rice noodles always feel like such a treat, but when you coat them with this herbaceous, tangy tahini, all of the ingredients really come alive.
Strawberry Hazelnut Fudge Pops
Homemade is always better, especially in the case of ice pops-you can get super-creative with the flavors and make a big batch to keep around for snacking. Strawberries, hazelnuts, and chocolate are a dreamy combination of flavors.
Almond + Rosemary + Olive Oil Cake with Figs
You might want to serve this cake at a fancy tea with friends, but it’s so simple to make that I sometimes just bake it for myself to enjoy as a snack all week long.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2018Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThe More With Less cookbook is now my all time favorite/go-to cookbook, for both every day meals and special dinners for friends and family. I found it while browsing in a tiny Mill Valley, CA bookstore and have already given it as a gift to 4 people, and recommended it to many more. While there are LOTS of cookbooks for healthy eating, this one is head and shoulders above the crowd because of how incredibly delicious the recipes are—featuring amazing sauces, snacks and ‘nibbles’, and creative approaches to healthy, low-on-the-food-chain cooking. Virtually all are either gluten free or easily adaptable. I am married to a traditional “meat and potatoes” guy who has LOVED everything I have made from these easy, fantastic recipes—including quinoa/beet/shiitake mushroom beet burgers, when he (previously) thought he didn’t like the first two ingredients.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2018Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis cookbook is aesthetically gorgeous, and the recipes are fabulous for simple, clean, healthy and delicious eating. My staples are the crispy potatoes, the roasted chickpeas with scallions and lemon and the french vinaigrette. I have met Jodi and she is extremely dedicated to sourcing the best ingredients and working on new and innovative ways to eat vegetables and elevate what many think is just another potato or carrot. If you like to entertain guests who love vegetables, and add something delicious, filling and healthy to your own meat, chicken and fish dishes...buy this book. If you have something to suggest or ask Jodi about, reach out to her on her blog, whatscookingoodloking.com I've been following for 2 years.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2019Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThe "More with Less: Whole Food Cooking Made Irresistibly Simple" has become my day-to-day go to cookbook! All the recipes are delicious but take healthier twists (which I love) and minimal ingredients. We recently featured it at my cookbook club, and all our members were wow-ed by the dishes created from it. I especially love that you can make chocolate mousse with sweet potatoes . The flourless chocolate blood orange cake (gluten-free and dairy-free) was a crowd favorite along with the curried sweet potato + yellow split pea stew with crispy shallots and also the oven-baked risotto rice with kale + leek + mushrooms.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2018Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseLike most of you, I have many cookbooks that gather dust. That will not be the case with "More with Less." This cookbook has completed revolutionized my kitchen confidence level and cooking ability. The charred cauliflower, and the rolled and roasted eggplant with the homemade pesto basil tomato sauce are now fixtures in my home. This cookbook will teach you to make healthy food that pretty much everyone, with all their many dietary trends/restrictions, will be able to eat. Highly highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis is the only cookbook I've ever had (and I have lots!) in which I want to cook 98% of what's in it--and fortunately, it won't be hard to do, because just like the title says, you're doing more with less. Not a ton of ingredients in each recipe, and the recipes are doable--they turn out. I love love love this woman's repertoire and want to see what she comes out with next.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis is a beautiful book that does emphasize fresh fruit and vegetables. It has a great section on pickling.
It's not vegetarian in case that's important to you (I missed that before I ordered it). Many recipes are vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian, but many include fish, some of which are anchovies as a condiment/flavoring and are not in the separate "fish" chapter.
Given its emphasis, it definitely includes recipes that are better for you than what you'd find in most cookbooks, but most recipes include a lot of oil and/or butter, so the combination of that with the focus on fish just isn't for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2019Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseI've probably have had this cook book for about a month and everything I've made has been delightful! When I was flipping through when I first got it, I was tagging recipes that I knew I needed to try, but it turned out I was tagging everything. The biggest challenge is choosing a recipe because I can never make up my mind if I want to try something new, or what I already made.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love everything about this book
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseI love everything about this book: the recipes, the use of the + signs that puts emphasis on the ingredients and how they can combine together, and the stunning photography. The recipes literally leap off the pages with their flavourness, originality and creativity. Also love the focus on the condiments and sauces, and how they can be paired with so many dishes. A must have cook book for your home, kitchen and palate.
