Disappointing customer service from Staub

Disappointing customer service from Staub
I bought this pan as a birthday gift for my wife. When she opened the box the pan had a full crack on the side. As per the instructions on the box, we contacted Staub customer service who told us to return the broken pan and we could expect a new pan within 2-4 weeks. They even sent us a UPS tracking number. We returned the pan right away, but after almost 4 weeks we still didn’t get the replacement. So we contacted Staub customer service again and now were told that it was it going to be another 10 (!) weeks due to “our warehouse being backed up due to COVID”. This was really strange because it was showing as in stock on Amazon all this time and with prime we should have been able to get a new pan within days. So we reached out to Amazon who was great and refunded us immediately.

This is an excellent skillet. I have an assortment of non-stick, try-ply stainless steel, and cast iron. I cooked Sunnyside up eggs in stainless steel, So that's proof the right cooking technique is needed for the right pan.

I have two staub Dutch ovens and this is my first staub Skillet. Made an omelet so far. The key to cooking with enamel cast iron is to heat the pan on low for 2-3 minutes. Then add oil. Fat is a must because these are not non-stick. Then I boosted the heat to medium. When the oil was hot enough, I cook my omelet. There was no sticking. No eggs were left behind in the pan.

Clean up was real easy. All I needed to do was wait for the pan you completely cool down and then wipe it with a paper towel and rinse it with just plain tap water.

My pan was shipped and sold by Amazon. For those reviews that are complaining about the quality, I don't know if those pans were sold by Amazon or not. There's a lot of knock-offs out there and the product really has to be shipped and sold by Amazon if you want to guarantee you're not getting a counterfeit product.

I highly recommend staub enamel cast iron.

Have used Le Creuset, MS, custom jobs, many enameled cast iron pans. This Staub is clearly and easily the best. Absorbs and holds heat better than the aforementioned, as good as they are, handles well and cleans easier. For some reason it also sticks to the food less than all the other brands. And added plus. Rare and surprised given the predatory nature of things today that this kind of quality product is still available today.

Let's hope it stays that way.

I have several Staub pots including a Dutch oven that is my go to for so many things. It is my favorite cookware. However, this pan is quickly becoming an albatross. Everything sticks to it and it is a royal pain to clean. It’s also very heavy which I like with pots but with a skillet it’s a bit cumbersome. Overall sorry I bought this.

When I received the pan, right out of the box, there was a noticeable dent, or more like imperfection in the pan. I will be looking into an exchange. However, I would think that Staub would have much higher quality assurances in place to prevent their products from leaving with blemishes like this.
