"Could you love me?" he whispered. The question stole my breath and burned my lungs in the silence that followed.

I wanted to answer, to whisper yes into the space between us, but I was afraid.

All Gesela's life, her home village of Elk has been cursed. And it isn't a single curse―it is one after another, each to be broken by a villager, each with devastating consequences. When Elk's well goes dry, it is Gesela's turn to save her town by killing the toad that lives at the bottom. Except…the toad is not a toad at all. He is an Elven prince under a curse of his own, and upon his death, his brothers come for Gesela, seeking retribution.

As punishment, the princes banish Gesela to live with their seventh brother, the one they call the beast. Gesela expects to be the prisoner of a hideous monster, but the beast turns out to be exquisitely beautiful, and rather than lock her in a cell, he offers Gesela a deal. If she can guess his true name in seven days, she can go free.

Gesela agrees, but there is a hidden catch―she must speak his name with love in order to free him, too.

But can either of them learn to love in time?

✨ 𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕜 ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨✨ 🏔𝑀𝑜𝓊𝓃𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃𝓈 𝑀𝒶𝒹𝑒 𝒪𝒻 𝒢𝓁𝒶𝓈𝓈 𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘦 🌶🌶🌶 This is one of those fairytale retellings that stays with you long after you finish it…The story begins with Gesela. Her village of Elk has been cursed for as long as she can remember. The curses can only be broken by the villagers but that does not come without consequences…and when Elk’s Well goes dry it is Geselas turn to save the town by killing the 𝓉𝑜𝒶𝒹 🐸that lives at the very bottom… only he is not a toad at all but an Elven Prince who has been cursed as well. Once Gesela finds out she has killed the Elven Prince, his brothers come for her..seeking revenge and they send her to go live with the seventh brother they call the 𝒷𝑒𝒶𝓈𝓉.. only he was not truly a beast…but a beautiful fae creature named Casamir… Casamir strikes a deal with Gesela.. if she could guess his true name in seven days he would free her.. but there was a catch… she needed to fall in love with him. Time is not on their side and freedom is far from reach… This was the epitome of the best kind of enemies to lovers tale… the angst..the want.. the passion between these two was so fun to read. I finished this book in one sitting and just devoured it. I loved all the references that were used from past fairytales and I found myself laughing at all the conversations with the magic mirror and the sprite Naeve, while also trying to solve the riddle of this story. Our FMC Gesela is strong and fierce and she never backs down from Casamir. She’s lost so much but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to live.. wanting her 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝑒𝒹𝑜𝓂. The illustrations in this book were so beautiful ..The back and forth banter were some of my favorite parts and when these two finally gave in to their wants.. their needs.. their desires…it was all consuming. There’s something about Scarlett’s stories that just captivate you and pull you in and this was just that.. an ✨𝑒𝓃𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓃𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒻𝒶𝒾𝓇𝓎𝓉𝒶𝓁𝑒✨ I’ll never forget. “𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧. This was a cute short story, but the plot is very interesting. She’s created an entirely alternate universe and I can’t wait to read more! Hopefully there will be more stories about the 7 elf princes. Mortals, elf’s, selkies, brownies, talking ravens. It was a good read.

I actually really enjoyed the concept of this book and the world building was definitely fun but short. The cruel setting was interesting and fun. I really liked how this book was followed the original with the atmosphere.
The romance I feel was lacking quite a bit though. I just didn’t really feel the connection between them and their supposed feelings for each other. I wanted a bit more development and connection between them to convince me they loved each other.
This book was definitely fun and I want to read more from this author.

I really enjoyed this short and easy read by Scarlett St. Clair. I've read two books by her previously and already love her beautiful writing style, so I was excited to start this one, too. And it did not disappoint!😍 It was a Beauty and the Beast retelling with some other fairytale aspects thrown in the mix, too!

Gesela lives alone outside an Enchanted Forest after losing her family. The village she lives in has been cursed by many curses over the years and now the newest curse has caused the well to dry up and a witch told them a toad that lives on the bottom of the well has to be killed to break the curse. The villagers decide it was Gesela's turn to be the one to be sacrificed to break the curse. It turns out the toad was actually a cursed Elven Prince, and Gisela finds herself captured by his brothers for retribution. They decide she must become the captive of their 7th brother, a beast, for 6 years. The 7th brother offers a deal. She can be free. All she has to do is guess and say his name within 7 days to free him of his own curse. Although what she doesn't know in the beginning is that his name must be spoken with love. So she also has to fall in love with him in that time too.

I really liked Gesela's character. She isn't a damsel in distress and is willing to fight for her life and freedom. Casamir started off as a character you would hate but learn to love. Does help that he's hot and sexy!😉 I really liked the Mirror and the Wolf, too. I also had so much fun figuring out the riddle of his name with Gesela as well!

This book had enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, prisoner/captive (Stockholm Syndrome-esque) trope. There were darker themes throughout and plenty of smut, which I really enjoyed. Given that it is a short novella, it was fast-paced, and the world building wasn't as extensive, and there were a couple of unexplained parts, but I personally don't think it took away from the story. I also feel it may be answered in upcoming books in the series, which I look forward to!

I do not even know where to start, this book had me by the throat and would not let go until I finished it. If I am being honest it still has a hold one me. I absolutely loved Casamir and Gesela. This fairytale retelling felt like no fairytale I had ever read before while at the same time bringing with it a sense of familiarity as it wove together bits and pieces of so many beloved tales.

We meet Gesela shortly before she is sent to break a curse that has befallen her village, one of many, however each curse broken comes with consequences for the one who broke it. The consequences for having broken the curse that has befallen the village this time finds Gesela face to face with five Elven Princes, the brothers of the cursed prince she killed in order to break the curse. As punishment for killing their brother she is sent to be the prisoner of the seventh brother. But, to earn her freedom she must speak his name within in seven days. However, there is a catch...

She must speak his name in love in order to set him free as well.

This story was so beautiful, it had me wanting to smack Casamir for being an idiot but loving him in the same breath. I love Gesela, watching her struggle with her feelings for Casamir and slowly realizing everything he gave her or was willing to do for her so that she never need know pain again. Not only were Casamir and Gesela beautifully written but this book is also full of amazing side characters some you will love and others that you will love to hate. Each though brings something to the story that drives it forward and makes the ending all the more beautiful.

The spice in this story was just perfect and it never felt forced. I loved that it was in these moments that saw the characters growing closer that they also struggled with what that meant for them. That while they could appreciate the passion, desire and longing that they felt for each other that they were still hesitant to admit that those feelings may actually be the product of something far stronger growing between them.

There is so much I want to say about this book but I am terrible at telling people all of my favorite parts so that they will read a book, so I shall stop here to avoid any spoilers. Just know that this book is the beautiful beginning of something far larger.

🪞"You were made for this," I said.
He smiled and asked, "Made for what, sweet creature?"
    I answered, "Heartbreak."🪞

Mountains Made of Glass by Scarlett St. Clair. This is the first of 7 new novellas that are a mix of many known and unknown fairytales retold in a way that is unique, magical, and enticing!

✨This book had everything! It was dark and fantastical while also being spicy and surprising. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Especially with needing to solve the riddle, which I can say I succeeded in!

✨The story of Gesela and Casamir is so captivating as we follow them through learning about their pasts and themselves and how they must overcome to understand a bigger picture. All while dealing with twists and turns that get in the way.

✨With such a great plot also comes amazing characters! Not only do Gesela and Casamir have my heart, but Wolf, Mirror, and Naeve are some of the best side characters I've ever read. Scarlett has a habit of writing lovable side characters that add so much to her stories.

✨I'm a huge fan of Scarlett's, but I think this has to be my favorite story of hers yet! If you swipe through the photos you'll see a quick blurb about the book as well as some beautiful character art for Casamir and Gesela!

This was such a fun and short read and obviously 5⭐s for me! I definitely think everyone should give it a try! Currently the book is only offered as an ebook, but she is planning to have physical copies once more of the novellas are out.
