- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2025Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseI don’t know how I would be able to stay in the same hotel with my baby without this! I was going to buy blackout shades, but most hotels already have those anyway and the benefit of a tent over my baby’s crib was that it made it like he was in his own little room and my husband and I were able to stay up after he went to bed with the lights on. We could also be on our phones or be getting ready for the day without the lights in the room waking him up. It fits perfectly over our travel crib, but we were also able to use it with all the cribs provided in the four hotels we’ve used it in so far, 3 of which weren’t even pack n plays but we were still able to fit it over them (it was just lifted off the ground a bit, so some light did come through at the bottom for those, but it still blocked out enough). The only constructive feedback I would give is the plastic pocket for the camera gives off a glare, but we actually just put the camera in the mesh pocket for a fan and you can barely even see the mesh. We found it to be a lot more clear than the plastic pocket. Unfortunately that means that we wouldn’t be able to use a camera and a fan at the same time, but we keep our room temperature pretty comfortable so we’ve never needed a fan for him.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2025Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseMy family has a cabin that we love to vacation at. The cabin only has one room with a door and two loft rooms that are very open and are shared by multiple people. Obviously having a baby complicates this set up. We decided to give the slumber pod a try and it allowed our baby (and us!) to sleep soundly in an unfamiliar place. The set up was not horrible and will go much faster now that I know what I am doing. I really appreciate how quiet the zipper is; my light sleeper didn’t even stir. The size of the pod is perfect and fits well over our pack and play. I was shocked at how dark the pod is even with how breathable the fabric seems.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2025Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseWe didn’t have this for our son & we had such a hard time when we stayed in hotels. Bought this on a whim for a quick staycation for our daughter & WOW! When they say blackout they really mean BLACKOUT. I placed myself in the pack and play with this over it and I couldn’t see ANYTHING!
Do I think $200 is expensive AF for a blackout tent? 100%, but so far baby girl slept like she does at home and we were able to continue to use the TV & make noise (she had her portable sound machine) without her waking up.
I would recommend even though it is expensive.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019*Really long review, but I wanted to be as thorough as possible.*
I think this is a really smart invention. We have used the SlumberPod every night for 9 weeks and will continue to use it while our baby (currently 13 weeks) room shares with us. Before I get into the review, I think it’s appropriate to offer a little back story so you understand my perspective and why we use this product.
When I was pregnant, we didn’t “prepare” our cat well for bringing a baby home. At the time, our cat slept in our room on a cat bed and we would leave the door open, so he can roam around during the night if he chose.
When we brought our daughter home from the hospital, we put her in our room in a pack-n-play and had to close the door at night (cat not in the room) because we were concerned he would jump in the pack-n-play. This made our cat cry and moan and meow ALL NIGHT LONG. This went on for weeks. I figured he would eventually stop meowing at all hours of the night, but at 3 weeks he was still going strong.
While I was pregnant, I saw SlumberPod on a Facebook group I follow and people were raving about it, but at the time I didn’t know if I would purchase it right away because it’s a bit spendy and we knew we weren’t going to travel with our baby while she’s teeny tiny.
I had looked around at alternative privacy pods that were less expensive, but frankly I found something I didn’t like about the ones I had looked at... I’ll touch more on that later on, so you know where my head was when making my decision.
After about 3 weeks of hardly any sleep (between a newborn baby and a cat meowing all night), I purchased SlumberPod from Amazon in the wee hours of the morning. Did I / do I feel silly spending $150 to accommodate a cat, Yes! But, what do you do?! I needed sleep and I needed my daughter to be safe. I can honestly say, it’s the best money I’ve ever spent. We can leave our bedroom door open, which means our cat doesn’t meow all hours of the night anymore. I’m a better mom when I’m fully rested.
**I do feel a responsibility to say that you should use common sense when buying SlumberPod to keep an animal out of the pack-n-play/ cot. I’m not sure if the makers of SlumberPod advise using it this way, but it works for us. My cat is 11 years old and just eats and sleeps. In all truthfulness, my cat probably wouldn’t have jumped in the pack-n-play anyway, but it’s nice to have something to keep him out just in case.**
Here are my thoughts on the cheaper options I had considered and why I decided to pass on them:
I looked at two other privacy pods and both of them have a flat top (where SlumberPod has a dome, tent-like design). I had concerns that if the cat did try to jump on the privacy pod- thinking it’s a table or other flat surface- he would land in my baby’s pack-n-play, which is obviously a safety concern. I also read reviews where people with older kiddos had issues with the kid standing in the pack-n-play and the top opening because of the flat surface and velcro.
Before using SlumberPod, I had some concerns so I want to share what those concerns were and then my findings after using it daily for 9 weeks:
1. Would my baby be able to breathe well with a tent pod over her pack-n-play? Yes, she’s able to breathe just fine. There are several air vents and we have all of them open and the SlumberPod is still plenty dark with the vents open.
2. Would it be a pain to change the sheets on the infant insert mattress while keeping SlumberPod over the pack-n-play? No issues. The pack-n-play mattress has a tri-fold, so I just fold the mattress together and slide it in and out through the large door.
3. Would the zipper wake my baby when she’s in the drowsy state and we are putting her to bed? This probably depends on your child, but we haven’t had any issues with the zipper disturbing her.
Additional thoughts:
I also really like the baby monitor pocket. There is a clear window inside so if you have a video monitor you can still see your child.
You can’t beat the customer service! The SlumberPod inventors are a mother- daughter duo and you can tell they really do care about their customers. I know it’s a spendy product, but I honestly think it’s worth it. I look at it as an investment and since we use it nightly, the cost per use goes down each day. Although we haven’t traveled with it yet, it seems like it would be easy to travel with because it’s so compact and isn’t too heavy- and yes, it comes with a travel case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent blackout pod with fan and monitor access
Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseVery easy to set up and is indeed blackout inside once zipped up. The first night I used this, my baby slept in 2 hours longer because he wasn't woken up by the sunlight in our room in the morning. It will be great to use when traveling this summer in hotel rooms and camping. It has vents for extra ventilation and a pocket for a fan and your baby monitor; both can be accessed from the outside without unzipping the tent, which is a nice feature. My monitor works fine in the monitor pocket, even through the plastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing ever for a traveling family
Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseWe travel a lot with our now 19 month old. He’s a good sleeper but is used to having all sleep in a blackout room by himself. We always try and find places where he can have his own room but, economically, it just doesn’t always work out. We have a lot of family cottage trips this summer where we all have to share a room so we figured we would try this out- WHAT A GAME CHANGER!
We are finally able to share a (not at all blackout) room as a family and have our son sleep peacefully with no distractions. We’ve used this successfully 3 times now and will continue to!
PROS:
- very blackout
- pockets for sound machine/ camera/ fan on both the top and sides
- well made
- compact size to travel with and fairly small even when assembled (not much bigger that a pack and play and not too tall)
CONS
- the poles are tricky to get into place in a tight space. Not impossible but definitely not “easy”. If in a spacious room, no problems at all!
- although the fabric is breathable, it still tends to get quite warm/ stale air inside. I recommend a fan inside one of the pockets if you’re in rooms without good airflow or a small space.
- although the fabric, zippers, pole are well made - the footing for the poles gets a lot of tension. The stitching is already pulling away from what foot and will need to be reinforced soon.
All in all - SO worth it! My son actually loves hanging out inside like it’s his own little personal space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just do it!
Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseI was on the fence about this purchase for a very long time, it felt excessive. However, it is very worth it if you are traveling and will be sharing a room with your child. I say this because it frees you up to live your life in the room and not be nap trapped. We put the sound machine by the crib and the baby monitor in the top slot - it was the perfect solution! Nap time can be a time of family rest, collectively, however it realistically a time to get some things done or just have some alone time. The first day we got to our destination, I hadn’t set this up and my 8 month old only napped for 45 minutes. The second day, I had set this up and he slept for 2 hours. It really helps remove distractions and provide that consistent dark environment needed for uninterrupted sleep.
I do recommend washing it prior to use and it does have a smell, not bad just I would have washed it first had I had time (you can’t put it in the dryer), so plan ahead!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a single room with a crib
Color: Black/Grey 3.0Size: Standard (No Fan)Verified PurchaseThis has been a saving grace. We have a 10 month and 3 yr old and when we are sleeping in a single room, this allows for our infant to go to bed at a different time to the rest and keeps the noise and light out.
We’ve used it in hotels, trailers and cruise ships.
