Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Makers
CHAMBORD is a true original – the classic French Press coffee maker designed in the 1950s to honor the iconic Château de Chambord in France. We still produce it with the same painstaking craftsmanship we used back then. Our Chambord is proudly made in Europe, just as it has always been. Please Note: With the exception of the Chrome and Matte Chrome colors; only the glass, plunger and filter are dishwasher safe. The frame and lid should be hand washed with a non-abrasive sponge.
How to brew French Press Coffee the Bodum Way.
French Press - Step 1:
For each 8-ounces of coffee, you want to brew; put 2 rounded tablespoons or 2 Bodum scoops of coarse-ground coffee into the carafe.
French Press - Step 2:
After the water has boiled; wait for 10-15 seconds before pouring into the carafe. Leave a minimum of 1 inch of space at the top. Stir with a plastic or wood spoon.
French Press - Step 3:
Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
French Press - Step 4:
After the 4-minute brew has completed, gently press down the plunger and you are now ready to enjoy a delicious cup of French Press coffee.
Bodum Quality in every Component:
Borosilicate Glass or Recyclable Shatterproof Beaker
The Chambord line is available in both borosilicate glass and recyclable shatterproof carafes The borosilicate glass is ultra-light and strong, has great heat- resistant properties. The Recyclable SAN Beaker is Shatterproof and provides a the same clean cup of French Press Coffee you expect that is even greener! Both carafes are dishwasher safe and will not get cloudy in the dishwasher.
Stainless Steel Spiral Plate
The Stainless Steel spiral plate keeps the filter mesh in place and makes sure that water goes through but no ground coffee. The flexible spiral provides a universal fit taking into account the manufacturing tolerances of glass jugs.
Stainless Steel Filter Plate
The Stainless Steel Filter Plate is a key component to the Bodum coffee makers. It separates the ground coffee beans from the water after the brewing has stopped.
Care Instructions
With the exception of items with Chrome or Matte Chrome finish; Only the Beaker, Filter and Plunger are dishwasher safe. Use a non-abrasive sponge to clean the frame and lid.

Product Description
Chambord is a true original – the classic French press Coffee maker designed in the fifties. And we still produce it with the same painstaking craftsmanship we used way back when with the original. The frame and lid, made of steel, undergo several Chrome Plating processes to obtain a durable shiny surface that will last for many years of intense use. The only difference in the production process since the fifties is our commitment to the highest standards of environmentally correct manufacturing, which is especially important during the Chrome Plating process. The black CHAMBORD polypropylene handle comes in a matte finish that not only gives a comfortable grip while serving but adds to the classic quality of the design. The French press system has always been the simplest and ultimate way of brewing an excellent cup of Coffee. Using fresh coarse ground beans with water between 92 and 96 degrees Celsius brings out the very best in all types of Coffee.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2016Color: PolishedSize: 34 ozVerified PurchaseFor those who enjoy a daily cup of amazing coffee the Bodum Chambord French Press is for you. My first experience with a Bodum Chambord French Press stems from my parents. They used if primarily for the “special cup of coffee,” the weekend demands and the Bodum French Press has continued to represent that ideal. I use my Bodum (34 oz.) nearly every day to make the perfect cup of joe. What really stands out in this product is its simplicity, longevity, and how it literally improves the taste of nearly any coffee.
Simplicity of Design and Use
The Bodum design is simple, smart, and easy to clean. The entire thing consists of only three pieces; the glass carafe, lid with the filter, and the steel frame. Its simplistic design combined with an overall aesthetic appeal that allows you to leave this French press on the countertop without looking out of place or ugly. Did I mention its dishwasher friendly?
When you go to use your Bodum you’ll find that its incredibly easy to use, in fact the instructions only come with 4 steps. Step 1, put coffee in your Bodum. Step 2, boil water. Step 3, pour the boiling water in the Bodum and let sit for a few minutes eventually pushing the filter down. Step 4, pour yourself a cup of coffee! They make it as easy as possible to enjoy a superior cup of coffee (more on that in a minute).
Longevity
Unlike comparable French presses, Bodum uses high quality glass, steel and hard plastics for their product. This means that you’ll be enjoying your press for years to come long after others would have broken. I’ve owned 1 other brand of French press before. The reason I made the switch was due to the handle breaking on my old one, a problem I don’t anticipate happening with my Bodum. As I stated before, my parents also have a Bodum (51 oz.) which they’ve had it for nearly 15 years! Not many other products can claim that type of longevity.
Do You Even Like Coffee?!
Those who know coffee, know that a French press easily makes the purest cup of coffee out there. Regardless of the brand of press, overall taste is so dramatically improved over the standard coffee maker that once tried other ways probably just won’t cut it anymore. The combination of pouring boiling water directly onto the coffee induces some sort of chemical reaction that brings the absolute best flavor out of that bean. Even Folgers, the most average cup of blah there is, can taste as if its fresh out of the jungles of Columbia when using a French press.
Negatives
Honestly, practically none exist. Strong, quality materials ensure it won’t break, it looks good on the countertop, and makes the worst coffee out there taste a million times better. The one and only thing that comes to mind is price. In your big box stores, the Bodum demands top price for its top quality costing up to 60 dollars for a 34 oz. press. However, the advent of online shopping has cut that price nearly in half.
The affordable, highest quality Bodum Chambord French Press is the perfect tool for the daily coffee drinker. Whether you’re buying it as a gift or for yourself, I’m confident that this press will improve your coffee experience. Happy pouring!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2023Color: ChromeSize: 12 ozVerified PurchaseI had never used a French press until recently traveling in the Netherlands where they had one in our apartment. I always heard people rave about the coffee and the easy process. I loved it! They had a larger, heavier version made by Bodum. It made delicious coffee but my second cup was never really hot enough. We drink four cups in the morning so it makes sense to brew a pot, but in the afternoon I like one cup. Instead of saving a cup from the morning and microwaving it (I know, I know, that's a sin!), I decided to get this smallest version of the Bodum French press. It works just like the larger version and makes delicious coffee. Note that they refer to a "cup" of coffee as 4 oz, where I drink a "mug" of 8 oz. It will brew a full measuring cup, which is 8 oz. You get a little less after you press it. Advantages are that your one cup is always hot, clean up is easy, and my husband who drinks decaf can brew a cup whenever he likes. I did find the glass to be a bit thinner than the larger version, and even though I used boiling water, my coffee was not extremely hot. The box was a bit messed up as if it was used, and it had an Amazon sticker saying this product "got a second life". I thought I was buying a new product. But inside, the French press was in perfect condition, had the correct Bodum logo on the glass, and it came with its own measuring scoop, which is super convenient to make the best coffee without guessing. This would be great for travel too. I'm glad I got it.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2025Color: Matte ChromeSize: 34 ozVerified PurchaseWhy did you pick this product vs others?:
I bought this to replace an identical one that I had had for years. Unfortunately, the old one was dropped for the second time and shattered.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2010QUICK SUMMARY: I'm not a coffee connoisseur, so I can't say how much better this coffee maker makes coffee over a drip coffee maker. But the coffee this French Press makes is tasty, using it is simple, and the clean-up is very easy. The only thing I'd like better is measuring lines on the carafe (I'm particular with my units-of-measure).
Background: A few days after getting this coffee maker, I did a blind taste test by brewing coffee made with this French press and with my Mr. Coffee drip coffee maker. I used the exact same coffee blend and amount (course ground for this maker, finely ground for the drip maker) and the same amount of water, then poured the finished brews into two different coffee cups and had my wife taste them both. The French press coffee steeped for four minutes. My wife noted the slightly stronger aroma and slightly stronger taste of the French press coffee, but both were similarly good-tasting. She gave me the same blind test, and I struggled to pick the coffee made with the French press, which was (to me) *very* slightly stronger in taste (I noticed no noticeable difference in aroma). In short, neither of us found that this French press made a superior cup of coffee over our drip coffee maker. That said, there are other reasons to like this French press.
WHAT I LIKE:
- It's a nice, simple way to serve guests a special kind of coffee they may especially enjoy
- Using the pump-action was very easy and (with coarse ground coffee) has no chance of clogging the filter
- I prefer the glass carafe that won't leach chemicals into my coffee vs. plastic-based carafes
- The small, compact size makes it easy to stow away (rather than leaving it on the kitchen counter)
- Very nice to make just two mugfulls of coffee to share with your significant other
- Cleaning the filter and carafe was much easier and faster than I thought it'd be
- No paper filters makes this a green product
- No heating element (use a thermos mug or carafe instead) also saves energy, too
What could be BETTER:
- In order to get the perfect mix of coffee grounds to water, it'd be helpful to have measuring lines on the carafe so I could fill the carafe to the exact same water level each time I use it. If I'm trying to brew, for instance, just 12 or 24 ounces, it's guesswork unless I fill the carafe with a measuring cup, creating an unnecessary step in the brewing process (not a big deal, but just unnecessary).
Conclusion: Since I can't really tell a big difference between the coffee this maker creates from my Mr. Coffee drip maker, I can't say that I love this product, but I do love that other people will like the coffee this maker makes, and that it's a green product. Recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Filtr fusów szybko się odkształcił

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little thing
Color: ChromeSize: 12 ozVerified PurchaseSince moving to the UK a few months ago I had been missing my old Bodum back home. I wanted something small that I could have at home or the office without any problems, so I bought this smaller version. For some reason it was smaller than I was expecting. Fills my very large coffee mug about 3/4 of the way, so it is about one full regular cup. Not a problem. Good excuse to leave the desk to make more coffee!
This Bodum has everything I loved about my larger one. Sturdy design, easy to use, large handle that makes pouring easy. Really nice.
