Nicely crafted crochet duck to remind Mom she is loved and to brighten her day.
Pretty cute small crocheted duck. It is nicely crafted. Ms Duckling wants you to know she is a beauty, and stands 4 1/2 inches in height. Wearing a bright yellow hat, permanently attached to her head and knotting a removable blue scarf around her neck, she looks as happy as a duckling should be in the springtime. While her large sort of webbed feet will provide her with enough balance to remain upright on her own, Ms Duckling does come with a removable small wooden base that helps her to feel more secure on her feet if she is out and about. However, if any children are around, Ms Ducking, better known as Ma, makes absolutely certain that the the wooden base is not within reach of any of them, as it uses two very sharp and exposed pins to fasten it to her body that could easily hurt a young child if they ever got their hands on it, and she would never want anyone to get hurt. Ms Duckling knows adult could accidentally stab themselves too if they were not being careful or paying attention to what they were doing when handling the base, but she is not particularly worried about that happening to an adult. Ms Duckling loves to quack about her hat, as it is one of her prized possessions - and she has a pretty big quacker. Her hat's' brim not only can shade her eyes from bright sun when she needs it, but it is adjustable. Depending on her mood, she can wear it pulled downwards to help her stay warm when chilly, or rolled up all the way if she is working on her tan for the summer. Probably her most favorite way of wearing it is with its' brim pulled down on one side and pushed up on the other, as she thinks it makes her look jaunty, and she sees people seem to smile more often when they see her wearing it that way. Her eyes are shiny black, small and bead like. While Ms Duckling has good vision, this reviewer is not quite sure how her eyes were attached, so is not sure how safe they might be around a young child, or how easily one could be pulled off. Ouch! Thankfully, my Ms Duckling is meant to be given to an adult, as it comes with a sweet note reminding Ma Duckling just how much her tiny duckling loves her, and she proudly carries that note with her wherever she goes. This would make a sweet gift to any Mother to receive from one of her children. And while this crocheted duck is the perfect sized soft toy for a small baby to hold - minus the stand, and with the scarf removed - I do wonder about its eyes if one were to come off, as its size could make it a choking hazard. That could be remedied by just using thread or yarn to make the eyes, rather than using the beaded eyes. Hopefully others will know more about those beaded eyes, since I've not had experience with them, and can clarify their safety further if someone was considering this for a baby instead.

This little duck is so cute. He is the perfect size to sit on my desk. He’s very soft and well made. Fantastic price for this quality piece. I adore him.
