I'm a heavyset woman and a little self-conscious about my figure and modesty. I still like to stand out, but respectfully so. This dress fits the bill. It is modest but flattering and forgiving of a mature full figure. The dress has been so very easy to care for, very washable, and very wearable. It travels extremely well.

The dress material is not transparent, and I did not find I needed a slip or color-matched undergarments. It is very cool in hot weather. The skirt flows nicely and maintains a broad, A-line proportion, which is flattering and very much like the pictures. The front allows for a deep scoop neck without revealing cleavage. The back is smocked, and the brightness of the color and pattern makes it very figure-flattering. Also helpful for fit and comfort is a cord connecting the shoulder seams, which crosses just below the nape of the neck. This strap keeps the shoulders of the dress from sliding or shifting and adds an attractive detail if you're wearing your hair up.

About the orange!

I was concerned about the color, as "orange" does not complement my pale skin. I should not have worried. The color is more electric than orange, and the brightness (paired with the other pink/magenta colors in the pattern) has no impact on skin tone whatsoever. I get compliments everywhere I go and leave people smiling. The bright colors spread a cheer of their own.

I really wanted to love this dress. I am 5’7”, 145, and size M fit beautifully and was very flattering. Sometimes when there are several fabric tiers in the skirt the garment can become too full and enveloping. Not so with this dress. There was enough fabric to be flowy but in a way that lets the wearer (rather than the dress) decide how much to make it flow. The back bodice smocking was just enough to make the bodice conform to the body without being too tight and pulling the top out of shape. I wish more manufacturers would use this feature, it’s much more flattering than smocking the entire bodice. The original tie at the back of the neck has been replaced with an 6” elasticized piece of matching fabric, a huge improvement! The sleeves are very graceful with that little bit of not-too-tight elastic which causes the lower sleeve edges to curl under. I’m very sadly returning the dress because of the fabric. It has a very synthetic-y plastic feel and I think it will be very hot in our Southern summer. I got the blue/white. The white isn’t really white, more of a yellowed polyester beige, not the crisp summer white I was looking for. I wanted to downgrade the dress by two stars because of the fabric but I love it so much I only took off one star. And I’m still trying to figure out what use I might have for another color where I could avoid the summer heat.
