FastCap Solo Thick Adhesive Refill (2.25 Ounces)

This powerful adhesive refill was designed for FastCap’s 2P-10 solo bonding kit. Use the thick adhesive with the respective 2P-10 activator to create long-lasting bonds in 10 seconds on most surfaces--including on porous materials such as particle board. Simply apply the thick adhesive to one surface and spray activator on the other. Pressing the two sides together creates a firm, permanent bond that holds up under all weather conditions. Bonds cure in approximately 30 seconds. The glue is also ideal for use on hard joints, as it won’t clamp. To prevent glue clumps and clogs, a special no-clog cap seals the adhesive when not in use. The adhesive refill also comes in a protective hard-shell case. A two-part debonder is available from FastCap to dissolve a bond or to extricate excess glue residue for a clean, professional-looking final product. For the best results, store the adhesive in a cool, dry place. Avoid adhesive contact with skin and eyes. Apply on clean surfaces void of dirt, wax, and oils. This is going to be my 'go to' glue. You get quite a bit of glue for your money. It is strong, but if you goof and have to remove the screw you used it with, or whatever, I've been able to do it. So, it's strong enough to hold (probably permanently), yet if the need arises, and you have to uninstall the metal item that you used it on, you can, with hand tools and some effort, reverse the job. I also like the consistency of the gel. It tends to stay where you put it and not drip..not that it won't drip if you use way too much, but it hangs in there quite well. I've used it to repair just about every plastic shelf in my refrigerator and have found that it not only produces a fine, strong repair but if you are careful not to apply excess glue, the repair is almost invisible.

I have two cons that have nothing to do with the glue. As you can see on the product photos, the container is tall and thin. This makes it prone to be knocked over, especially since the spout works the first time you use it but is unduly difficult to clean out and use again. So, you unscrew the cap, usually requiring a pair of pliers, and access the glue with a cotton swab, or whatever will fit. At that point you face the decision of whether to apply the glue which is then hanging on the end of your swab, or somehow set it down and screw the cap back on the bottle, then apply your adhesive. I've usually chosen the first option, which works great, except, careful as I am to put the bottle of glue out of the way, I've spilled it. It took 30 minutes to (about 5 minutes, post-spill) use various household cleaners, scrapers, and steel wool to remove it from my hardwood floor. However, the clean-up worked. I wouldn't dream of using acetone on most spills. It would most likely do the job, but the risk of surface damage would be high. The second 'spill' was purely due to my stupidity. I set the cap of the bottle right down on the hardwood floor but caught it quickly and in 5 minutes, the glue was gone and the floor was not damaged.

Summary: Really great glue, obviously engineered to be strong, yet easy to use. It's 100 times better to work with than super glue (and I think as strong, or stronger). Con...the bottle is too easy to knock over. Whatever happened to the glue pots of yester-year? Finally, if you have a large bolt or some other heavy object that the glue bottle will just fit in, that will solve the spill problem, even a small wood clamp should sufficiently stabilize it.

When you need to keep moving this product is what you need for all those small miters and returns. Unlike regular CA glue, this stuff has an initial set that really holds which leaves a hand free to grab your nailer or allow you to make up small assemblies while on a ladder. This thick version also keeps the glue from wicking away into the wood too fast before you get a chance to assemble which means more glue at the joint and less glue used as you don't have to account for any wicking. Sturdy screw on cap with internal needle to keep the dropper tip clear for every use.

Its just regular super glue. If you want to avoid the cloudy residue from being left behind that happens when supper glue dries make sure you dont use too much at once. It doesnt dry clear. Its also not structural glue so make sure you dont use it on things like hinges or doors and so on because super glue is strong when pulling items apart but it is brittle when it comes to shear resistance.
