Solid construction marred by a small crack and minor dent. Normally I'd return for damage but I knew this would be placed outside, after being painted, where I couldn't see it and would expect minor weather and wear anyway. Serving as a weather station mount, this bracket seems strong and stable in place. If you plan a more visible location and stained finish, check condition on receipt. Good for the price; I would purchase again.

    There's a lot good to say about this bracket. Rubber wood, which I had never heard of, is a reasonably hard, light-colored wood with a fine grain -- very pretty. The bracket is finished well and ready for staining and painting. I painted mine and cannot speak to the results of staining. For what it is, I highly recommend this bracket. What it is, however, is more cosmetic than structural, and in my opinion, is suited only to support light loads, not, for example, a shelf loaded with books. It arrives with a metal attachment fitting on the back that slips over two fasteners (not supplied) protruding from the wall, thus it hangs from two screws or nails and is not securely mounted to a wall stud. The shape of the bracket itself has no flat surfaces that would allow firmly attaching to the wall with heavy wood screws. The metal attachment fitting is screwed to the bracket with 1/2" wood screws -- not very strong. Any wall screw or nail used to hang the bracket must have a very thin head to slide into the attachment fitting because there's no clearance between the fitting and the wood bracket for the head of a substantial screw.

    I strengthened the bracket a bit to support more than a minimal shelf load by replacing the 1/2" screws holding the attachment fitting to the bracket with larger screws, chiseling some wood from under the attachment fitting to add clearance for the head of a more robust screw protruding from the wall to hang the bracket, and then using heavy screws in wall studs to support the bracket.

    In summary, for what it is, and I'd say it's a cosmetic bracket that will support only a light shelf, it's perfect. Nice wood, nicely finished, ready to paint or stain, and ready to mount. Highly recommended for that purpose. Not recommended to support heavy shelves, e.g., loaded with books.

    At first I was happy. Then I had to peel a massive sticker off each one which took forever. Then I realized there were no plugs or screws or even suggestions for what size would fit. The holes are loosely finished and there are chunks of wood hanging off leaving an unsanded appearance in some areas. Finally, I realized after staining them that these aren’t even the same brackets. They sent me 2 different kinds! Because I’m doing a makeover for a national brand with a deadline I now don’t have time to return these and have to use them which will look horrible in photos. I wish I would have just bought some from the hardware store as these were expensive and not worth it and now I’m stuck with them.
