The battery power is much more convenient that other rechargeable sets. (Who wants to plug in their salt and pepper grinders?! Don't we have enough gadgets and tech to recharge all the time?) They are good quality. After a couple of months, they are holding up well, and battery life is good. The LED light is super bright and an unexpectedly cool function, so you can actually see how much spice you're putting on your food. (Who knew?) We also love grabbing them, not only during meals, but also while we're cooking. Especially my teenage son! The other day, he was using them while he was cooking and said, "Where have these things been all my life???" Hahahaha
