I was looking for a smallish mortar and pestle for light duty kitchen work. This one is made of a nice fine grained ceramic that seems pretty sturdy and cleans up well. It is just a no-nonsense tool and not too fancy for daily use in my kitchen. Seems to go through the dishwasher just fine.

Fine product, just a bit small and didn't work well with Chia seeds
My main reason for getting one of these is because I want to be able to grind Chia seeds to use as an egg substitute (1 TBS ground seeds + 3 TBS water and let sit for a few mintues = 1 egg). In the attached photo is 2 TBS of seeds, which worked ok, but 1 TBS at a time would be better. I never was able to get it down to a powder, but I'm not sure if it was my technique or what. The product seems to work fine. I think I just need to find a new way to grind small seeds. It is also a bit small, but would work fine for small batches. I just didn't want it taking up a lot of space.
