Editorial Reviews
The music on Deeper Well, the seven-time Grammy winner's fifth album, is almost chimeric. Rolling acoustic guitars, puffy clouds of strings and synth, warm bass punctuations, layered harmonies, moments of Celtic melody and plenty of room on the tracks for Musgraves' silvery vocals. On the bright, almost folky title track, the 30-something songstress surveys her life and priorities, recognizing what feeds her, drains her and even examines the childhood she's left behind on her way to now. Saturn returns, cardinals embody a dead friend, love is given and taken, streets rush by, belongings are packed and old chapters deserted, new love blooms, jade bracelets serve as talismans, deep lessons emerge, small details define everything, the woods are a refuge and New York City serves as the same gleaming beacon as Oz. Pressed on 180-gram transparent cream vinyl. With KM + Boy Smells "Deeper Well" scented sleeves.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2024I’m new to the Kacey Musgraves fandom, admittedly. I preordered this album because I liked various songs from her over the years but wanted to own this pressing because the mockup image was beautiful. It looks exactly like the mockup image and it sounds perfect. It’s also got a scented sleeve that smells like this album sounds, if that makes sense. Upon further research it smells like Musgraves’ collaboration with scent brand Boy Smells, and there is an overpriced candle you can get online if you so choose to. I bought one. Listening to this LP with the candle burning is a total sensory experience. Clean off the record before playing with a velvet brush and you’ll find no skips, no pops, just beautiful sounding music. And this is some of her best work of her career. Highlights include ‘Heaven Is’, ‘The Architect’, ‘Anime Eyes’ and ‘Heart of the Woods’, but everything here is ethereal and haunting and beautiful. I love this album.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2024This album represents more magic from Kacey. I saw her in concert, where she kicked off the evening with Cardinal. I was entranced by the overlaid melodies and huge sound there, but when I came home and really listened to the song, I bought her album immediately. I heard Deeper Well weeks earlier, impressed with her personal story of transformation. The retrospectively titled Too Good To Be True gave me pause for self-reflection, as Kacey's songs will do. My other favorite tracks are Sway, and Jade Green. But perhaps the biggest surprise was Heart of the Woods. Who might have expected a song extolling the virtues of mycelium on a "country" album? Well, it is Kacey, after all. :) Another beautiful album, again reflecting her deepening wisdom.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2025A great listen. Sound is great.
The vinyl color makes is seem almost transparent on the turntable.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2024I knew nothing about Kacey Musgraves until I saw her perform two songs on a March 2024 episode of "Saturday Night Live." I really liked both songs, so the next day, I went online to see if they were available on a CD. It turned out they were on this new 13-song CD. So I bought a copy and have listened to it a lot since getting it a few weeks ago. The album is packed with strong, folk-pop storytelling, wonderful melodies and great guitar-playing. It's ideal music to work by, which is what I'm usually doing when I play the album on my desktop media player. My favorite tracks, in this order, are "The Architect," "Sway," "Heaven Is," "Jade," "Heart of the Woods," "Cardinal" (the lead-off track) and the title track, "Deeper Well." I realize that's almost half the album, but hey ... they really are ALL good!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2024the recording is rich and warm. Nothing like a good vinyl recording to listen to after a long day. I say Kacy in concert and this is the second best thing. A truly remarkable and gifted song writer at her best.. enjoy
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2025Cardinal track is the gem on this album. The rest of the tracks are so mellow, so coffee shop. I'd love to hear some more interesting backing instrumentation. Lots of mellow synth and picked acoustic guitar. Dear god she has an INCREDIBLE voice. Magical. Worth having. Hopefully a better producer on the next album.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2025My wife is loving this. That’s all that matters to me. I prefer the live set on Amazon Video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maturity
Kacey Musgraves last album Star-crossed seemed to be chasing the crossover country pop market with the emphasis on the pop, but with this album she pulls back from pop market. But this is not a country sounding record it brings to mind the singer-songwriter sound of Beth Nielsen Chapman and Mary Chapin Carpenter on songs such as The Architect, Cardinal, Moving Out and Lonely Millionaire. This sound has a restrained reflective atmosphere that perhaps is due to events in Kacey's personal life, so although I hate to use the word it applies this is a very mature album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kacey Musgraves Deeper Well
Nennen möchte ich hier den Titelsong "Depper Well", "Too Good To Be True" und "Heart Of The Woods".
