- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2025Exactly what I expected from the lower end budget AM5 processors, seems to be relatively fast for general use and works well enough with the games that I play.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 April 2025Very happy with this processor. It's powerful, energy efficient, reasonably priced compared to similar options (at the moment), speedy and doesn't run especially hot as long as you pair it with a decent cooling solution. More than capable of running all of the AAA games and graphic design software I use without being over-the-top beefy for the average consumer
Only downside is that many older manufactured B650 motherboards require a BIOS update in order to be compatible. This is absolutely fine as most of them are capable of this without a CPU installed, but do double check compatibility on your motherboard's website and make sure it has a Q-flash feature or similar

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 March 2025I'll be frank, if you're upgrading, then maybe this isn't the best choice for you. I think there are bigger performance jumps to be had elsewhere. However, if you're building from scratch and looking for a processor that can handle most tasks you throw at it, this one's a solid option.
The pricing is a bit higher than the unicorn CPU, the 7500f, but since you can only buy that directly from China, this one is easier to get and offers a bit more performance. I used it alongside an Intel graphics card and didn't face any compatibility issues, which was a relief. Installation was straightforward, but be aware that it doesn't come with a boxed fan—you'll need your own cooler.
I won't provide benchmarks here since performance can vary, but there are plenty of resources online for you to check out. In short, I'd recommend it for a new build. If your intention is to upgrade your current rig, you might want to look elsewhere for better gains.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2025Seems quick so far and onboard graphics is fine. Was running at 45 degrees when I checked., although I have not put it through it's paces yet. One point I like was £20 off as it does not come with a standard cooler, lots of people buy better coolers anyway so I use that money off to buy a better cpu cooler
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 February 2025I'm coming from a 5600x, on AM4. I have to admit the jump over to AM5 was a shaky start, I had originally bought all my parts elsewhere. Unfortunately, the chip I bought from said other retailer failed on me after 12 days. I don't blame them for this, and I don't blame AMD either. As they say, if you are on the bleeding edge of technology you are bound to get cut and I was cut.
So originally to verify my suspicions as to whether my original chip failed I bought another here, and it was indeed the case. This one *crosses fingers* has been completely fine so far. I must admit, it does get a little toasty on the T-Die and CCD and reaches about 80c after 30 mins of gaming HOWEVER it NEVER seems to go past this. So that is a good thing, considering I am running an Artic Freezer 36 single tower CPU cooler.
So to summarize, it is certainly a great leap from a 5600x. Great, providing you don't get a DOA chip like I did originally, NOTE: I must say this would be VERY VERY rare and I was just one of the unlucky ones.
Now in terms of value, I certainly think in terms of pricing it is tittering on the edge of NOT worth it but considering I have seen them for as low as £200 at times. I suppose I can forgive that slightly.
Will this provide you the BEST gaming experience? No to get that, you'd have to pay double and get a 9800X3D if gaming is your primary purpose. However, will it give you perfectly adequate gaming performance? Yes, providing you pair it with the right GPU for the use case and res you play. E.G I have a 7800xt playing at 1080p 180hz, and could probably get decent performance at 1440p if I had a monitor capable.
In Conclusion, if you have a decent AM4 system, perhaps wait a little or get a 7600 if you WANT to migrate to AM5 just don't think you NEED to. If all games you play, are running perfectly fine. Only upgrade if games you want to play are struggling in future!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 January 2025I've used Ryzen 5 series processors before with AM4 and had a very positive experience, so upon putting together my new AM5 rig in Dec 2024 I wanted a reasonable value but new and capable CPU. The 9600X has proven already to be a very capable purchase, as I understand it and in my experience, around on a similar footing to a 5800x3D in terms of average gaming output in modern titles. I'm pleased I went this route with a black Friday good value B650 motherboard + reasonably priced DDR5 CL30 600 RAM. In future years it opens options for a CPU upgrade to a new generation x3D chip, hopefully when prices ease. Very pleased with the 9600X though, certainly for ordinary gaming and modest general PC browsing and tasks.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2025work good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent gaming processor. In general, good enough for the money at worst, fantastic at best.
Low power, fantastic performance for games. Not bad for apps either.
Running a low profile thermalright heatsink with slow fan. Very quiet.
