I purchased the basket for decor and will probably never use it for a plant but that is a good use for the basket. When opened, the basket popped all the way open into a perfect shape. The material for the basket is very attractive and beautifully natural. I have a lot of African paintings, baskets and fabric and this basket fits right in. I probably wouldn't be able to use the basket as a tote for carrying stuff because it is fairly thin, I think it is meant to be stationary.
