Review
'The sort of old-fashioned nature story that will appeal to fans of the Flower Fairies. I love these gentle storie which are steep in natural history. The pictures show all manner of wildlife, really conjuring up what it might be like to live as a tiny creature on the forest floor. Happily, my daughter shares my fascination.'
– Families Online
'The children I have read this book to have loved this cheerful and exciting story. They have been fascinated at the thought of being made tiny for the day.'
– Hilary Woolfe with Isaac (age 4), Education Otherwise
'Look out for the insects and small creatures included in the pictures that juicily illustrate Peter's adventures.'
– Highland News
'First published in Sweden in 1901, Peter in Blueberry Land still maintains its original appeal. This is an enchanting story, perfect for reading aloud before bedtime.'

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2009One of my son's favorite foods is blueberries. So, it was fitting that I purchase a book with great reviews and about something he loves.
This is the only Elsa Beskow book we own right now and I am impressed. The book was written in 1901, I believe. The illustrations are fantastic. The story is creative. And my son was excited when we met the 'King of blueberry land.' The Raspberry girls were exciting because they were a dramatic contrast to the blue.
I like the message of gathering something for his mothers birthday and making her a card, especially in a day and age where we buy all our gifts.
This is a good book for my three year old and I am sure we will continue to read it as he is learning to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2021Beautiful illustrations, charming story. I loved this when I used to read it to my children and was pleased to see it was as charming as I remembered. I gave it to my daughter-in-law who'd never seen it before and she loved it. I was glad to find the larger size book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2011If you or someone you know loves fairies, woodland creatures, and imaging life as a tiny wood sprite - this book is for them! I purchased the large size edition, which allowed us to fully enjoy the beautiful color illustrations. Peter is a boy who wants to find some berries in the forest. Through a series of events, he ends up shrinking down to the size of the woodland sprites that live there. He plays with the children sprites while he collects his berries. At the end of the story, he must leave to go back to the human world. My daughter is in a phase right now where we read books about tiny people (John Peterson's The Littles, so these books fit right in. The simple stories allow us to talk about what life would be like for someone so tiny in a forest and it has led to a lot of imaginative play in the woods and fields near our home!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2012I love this beautiful book! The illustrations are so colorful and detailed. Simply exquisite artwork.
The story is also great. Everything from Elsa Beskow is :)
I would recommend all of her books for parents with children that love a wonderfully written story with the best pictures to accompany it.
Every child I have read these to, including my own son, have loved them all.
Whimsical fantasy, children, animals and fairies, and always a message of learning.
This will quickly become a favorite.
Makes a wonderful gift.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2017Beautiful little book! What a fun story to share with my grand daughter . She loves these books so I am trying to buy lots of them to have for her at my house when she comes to visit.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2015Pretty pictures, the story is not written especially well but I think a lot is lost in translation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Imagination builders!
I was very pleased with this product because I bought it for my 4 year old grandson. He was not sure at first but then fell in love with it. What I like about this whole series of books is the soft, imaginative view of life they present. In an age when all children's media tends towards the worship of brash, bullying "super heroes" with no empathy whatever for their victims, this breath of fresh air can only be good. No child can receive too much encouragement to exercise their imagination or develop their sense of empathy towards the world around them. These tales, I believe, are an important step in that direction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sweet story
One of my daughter's favourite books, she recites it by heart. Lovely, sweet story about little boy Peter looking for berries for his mother's birthday and ending up having an adventurous journey, making new friends along the way. It reads very easily and is fun and sweet.
