I recently purchased Earth’s Best Organic Banana Raspberry & Brown Rice Fruit & Grain Puree for my family, expecting the same quality and nutritional content as the previous whole grain barley version. Unfortunately, I noticed some changes that are important to highlight, especially for families like mine who depend on the higher calorie content due to medical conditions.The Pros: Organic Ingredients: As always, Earth’s Best uses organic ingredients, which is great for those who prioritize organic foods. Flavor: The combination of banana and raspberry remains delicious, appealing to both kids and adults. Convenience: The pouches are convenient for on-the-go snacks and meals.The Cons: Recipe Change: The most significant change is the switch from whole grain barley to brown rice. This change has reduced the calorie content from 90 calories per pouch to 80 calories. Calorie Reduction: For families needing extra calories for medical reasons, this reduction is a drawback. Every calorie counts, and the previous version was more suitable for our needs. Texture: The texture seems slightly different with the brown rice, making it less smooth than the previous barley-based version.We rely on nutrient-dense foods to meet specific dietary requirements due to medical conditions. The previous whole grain barley version of this product provided a perfect balance of calories and nutrition. The new brown rice formula, while still tasty and organic, falls short in providing the extra calories we need.
