Teenage boys. This is one load of FRESHLY WASHED whites with 2 scoops of rocking greens in the washing machine. Then I soaked the load for an hour in hot hot water and 4 scoops of Rockin Greens in the sink. This is the water when I’ve pulled everything out. I’m gagging it’s so disgusting and satisfying. The scrub bush is just to try to show how utterly vile this water is.

    This stuff works! Gets the smells out and cleans the diapers great. I use unscented and it never caused any issue for my child’s skin. I first run a quick cycle with unscented oxyclean and 1 scoop of this detergent to remove any left over debris. Then run a regular cycle with this detergent.

    My friend uses cloth diapers as well, she was using regular detergent which wasn’t getting the poop smell put. I soaked and washed her diapers with this stuff once and it removed all the smells and grime from her diapers.

    At both 8ish and 14 months into cloth diapering, had been exclusively using tide powder detergent, I noticed my diapers were just getting stiff/not very soft anymore and my son was getting some diaper rash. The first time, I just changed my prefolds size up(second size of petite crown) and it temporarily fixed the problem, the second time I needed to actually figure out a solution. A few runs of Grovia Mighty Bubbles helped my issue a bit, which confirmed my suspicion that it was probably hard water build up in the diapers. I had RLR in the house but for whatever reason just didn’t want to really use it. Figured it was my last resort if everything else failed. I had also purchased Hard Rock and Dirty Diaper Rockin Green (anyone else mass buy things that might help you solve your issue?). I do two heavy duty washes(Frigidaire top loader, max fill washer), first in warm then second wash just prefolds on hot with a soak which extends my heavy wash cycle. I started running the first wash with Tide powder to line 4, second wash I do a hefty scoop of both the hard rock and the dirty diaper detergent. The first few times I noticed them coming out a little softer. Started drying on low for 60 minutes, then air drying to finish them off instead of just drying on high heat.
    I don’t think I’m ever changing this routine. I feel like it’s just the perfect combination. The diapers continue to come out softer, I know the hard water build up is being prevented, I just couldn’t be happier. I’m going back and washing the first prefold size and I’m seeing the results repeated.
    If you have hard water and know it (hello mineral deposits on your shower and faucets) this is a great product to look into. I also really love that it’s unscented. One of the things I hated about tide was the scent. Just screams hormone disrupters.
    The first few times you’re washing to get mineral build up out, you might have to include more detergent. I think I did a solid 3 or 4 scoops with a soak right away but then backed it down a bit.
    Great product, please don’t discontinue!!

    Update: now that I’ve gotten the minerals out, I’ve backed down the detergent even more for that second wash in hot… the enzymes can be a little strong once they get wet otherwise and can go after his skin. Or rinse more… want to make sure to get all the detergent out.

    For the first 4 months of cloth diapering, I used Country Save HE Laundry Detergent, Powder, 160-Load, 10-lb Boxes (Case of 4). I have a front loading LG Tronn machine, and I would do a rinse/spin cycle with a smidge of Country Save, then a heavy soiled normal wash on hot with 1/4-1/2 the "standard amount" of detergent, followed by one or two rinse and spin cycles. This worked pretty well, until I moved.

    If there's one thing you'll learn about cloth diapers, it's that your laundry system will be completely different from everyone else's due to your child's body chemistry, your diaper brands, your water quality, and your washing machine. Though we kept the same machines, the water at our new location was incredibly different, and after a cycle or two of washing diapers in the new house, my son's rump was red and rashy! Needing some new laundry solutions, I decided to get Rockin' Green and I am so glad I did.

    The Smashing Watermelons variety smells wonderful, just like watermelon Bubble Yum gum! Too bad the smell does not stay on the diapers (though I can see how that would be bad for babies with sensitive skin). The Rockin' Green website is brilliant - they have a very informative FAQ, as well as suggested washing cycles broken down by type of machine. Plus the small looking bag claims to last up to 90 loads! One important thing to keep in mind is that when you use Rockin' Green for the first time, you have to be very careful. It will suck the chemical residue out of your diapers, so if you do not run a whole bunch of rinses, your child might get a worse diaper rash than she started off with. If you have particular stubborn residue, stains, or stinkies, do a soak in Rockin' Green. My son's butt is back to being happy, and my diapers look and smell cleaner than ever. My new washing cycle is - delicate cycle with water plus option to rinse the diapers, cotton cycle with water plus and 2 tablespoons of Rockin' Green to wash, followed by one or two delicate cycles with water plus to rinse.

    If you have hard water, you might need to use more than 2 tbsps, if you have very soft water, 1 tbsp might suffice. If your water is especially hard, use Rockin' Green Cloth Diaper & Laundry Detergent (Hard Rock, Bare Naked Babies), and if your baby has very sensitive skin, try Rockin' Green Cloth Diaper & Laundry Detergent (Soft Rock, Bare Naked Babies).

    For those who use nonscented laundry detergents: there are times when those towels/diapers/clothes get that unpleasant odour, and it seems impossible to get rid of it and not to use parfumed detergents to mask it- Rocking Green is an answer. The brand also has ammonia bouncer. Approved on stinky diapers, towels, and sport clothing. I had to wait for discount times as it is pricey. Also, make sure you pick right type for your water type.

    I live in a hard water area, and this powder has really helped to soften our washes. This is particularly noticeable on towels, where we don’t use any conditioner.

    It should help reduce line scale buildup in the machine too, but you need to start with a recently cleaned/descaled washer to see the full benefit.

    I was pleasantly surprised how small the bag is, bearing in mind that there are 90 washes in there. But it does come with a small measuring scoop to ensure you’re not dosing with too much detergent.

    Very good, I absolutely recommend.
