About the Author

Bobbie Lloyd is the CEO and Chief Baking Officer at Magnolia Bakery, where she has played an integral role in expanding the bakery from its original location in New York City’s West Village to more than 40 global locations. She brings the homemade essence of Magnolia Bakery for customers through the creation and development of new recipes and perfection of old favorites. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Lloyd began her epicurean journey at eight with her first cooking class. She cultivated this interest through her formal education at Chef's and Company in Boston and working in restaurants. Throughout her career she has been involved in all aspects of the restaurant and bakery business, and authored her first cookbook, The Magnolia Bakery Handbook, in 2020. She lives in New York City.

Can't wait to start baking!
Really nice book. I'm afraid to get it dirty in the kitchen! Pages are heavy weight and most recipes include a full page size photo of the dessert. Has all the classics such as banana pudding, carrot cake, and red velvet, along with some new such as pumpkin gingersnap banana pudding and chocolate cake with peppermint buttercream.

    Love the variety of recipes. There are sections on cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies & bars, pies & crisps, muffins & coffee cakes, scones, icebox desserts, and banana pudding. Plus there is information on tips and techniques and base recipes like chocolate wafer crumb crust, apple filling, cinnamon crumb topping and more!

    Easy to follow recipes with pictures. Highly recommend it for home bakers.

    I love adding this to my extensive cookbook collection. Not only does it have recipes but shows step by step pictures. I have been to the Magnolia Bakery and so enjoyed their creations. Looking forward to try my hand at some of these recipes.

    Firstly, the book is big, well made, a beautiful picture on the cover that is actually textured with smooth nearly flat outlines of the decorations on the cake. The pages are not cheap and the font is acceptably sized in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that there are pictures for everything.
    My issue is the quality of said pictures. You remember tv in the 90's? That tv picture quality was about 480 to our now 1080p or 4k high definition. After 480 we got 720 picture quality in tv's and computers. Okay, still with me? This book has a few 480 but more 720 quality pictures. The picture of the chocolate cake with caramel drizzle is so color saturated the cake looks black, and not in a good deep dark chocolate way. The picture of the chocolate cupcakes are also very dark and dull. The paper here seems to have a semi-sheen on it which is nice, but I think gloss pages would have been nicer. I'm just surprised that the picture quality isn't hd. But like I said most of the pictures are more 720 quality and I appreciate that.
