I purchased this for open abdominal hysterectomy recovery. I wanted something I could use to eat on (although I never used it for that due to no hunger for two weeks after surgery) and for placing other items like a notebook or tablet. It is sturdy but very lightweight, which is important when you are not allowed to lift much. The quality is excellent, and it definitely helped,d so I would have my items near. It was high enough that it did not touch my abdomen ,even if I was not sitting straight up. Good product.
