- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2025I just love Mo Willems!! His books make my students laugh so much and make my heart happy! Any time I tell one of the kids to go choose a book, they typically pick up either an “elephant and piggie” book or a pigeon book. I bought this one in particular because we needed to learn more about manners and how to be thankful in our classroom. It worked wonders. I highly recommend it! It’s fun and engaging. The kids loved it and will ask for it again and again.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2024My kids love piggy and elephant! Good read for young children!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2024Piggie and Gerald are great books for all topics of conversations with young readers. I am a preschool teacher and my class LOVES these books every single year!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016My girls have been fans of the Elephant & Piggie series for about five years. We have almost all of the books in the series; they have helped all three of them learn to read. We were very sad when we heard that The Thank You Book would be the last Elephant & Piggie book, and we were looking forward to one last funny story with Piggie and Gerald.
As The Thank You Book begins, Piggie declares that she is going to thank everyone who has helped her. Gerald worries that she is going to forget someone, but Piggie insists that she will not.
And then Piggie proceeded to thank every secondary character in the entire series, and I tried not to cry. They are all there, and fans of the series (like my girls) will enjoy seeing familiar friends. Gerald continues to worry that Piggie will forget someone- who could she possibly be forgetting that thank?
The illustrations are relatively simple. Gerald and Piggie appear against a plain white background, and this places an emphasis on their facial expressions and body language. Gerald and Piggie communicate with each other via voice bubbles; the book consists of a conversation between the two friends and their acquaintances.
I would recommend The Thank You Book to fans of the Elephant & Piggie series. My girls laughed as they recognized all of Elephant and Piggie’s friends. If you aren’t familiar with the series, this probably is not the best book to start with because you won’t understand why Piggie is thanking all of these other animals. If that is the case, I would suggest starting with any of the other books- they are all funny books ideal for beginning readers.
My girls and I are not sure what Mo Willems has planned next, but we are looking forward to it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2019I agree with the others. This book is definitely better if your child is already familiar with the Piggie and Elephant series characters. That being said, my son has read several of them and has loved them all, including The Thank You Book. This series has really helped him become a confident reader. Before he discovered Piggie and Elephant, he didn’t really care for reading. Most books were boring or too difficult for him. The stories are simple but there are lots of pages and he feels like he’s reading a big book! He loves the silly plots and his favorite is finding the pigeon! Definitely recommend to anyone whose child struggles with wanting to read!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2016Mo I love you...Mo I hate you...
Well, not really hate, but to think that never again will I rip open another box to see my two favorite characters smiling out at me. To hold up a new book in front of a class and hear cheers and applause. These two friends are simply beautiful. As an elementary school librarian I delight in introducing these two characters to my early readers. At our Spanish immersion school the stories are perfect for either our English or Spanish speakers with simple, but sweet story lines and illustrations that transcend language.
For the Piggie and Elephant fanatic this book is a perfect goodbye. Favorite characters return, including that slippery Pigeon. Piggie and Elephant reaffirm the embodiment of friendship and love. More importantly, Mo addresses the reader, young and old, and hails the symbiotic relationship between reader and character.
Thank you Mo. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son and daughter and I love Mo Willems' books
My son and daughter and I love Mo Willems' books, especially the Elephant and Piggie series. They offer simple, reassuring and fortifying messages through a simple narrative, told entirely through speech bubbles, and a simple illustrative style. But the simplicity is deceptive: Willems' witty little tales explore quite difficult emotions such as rejection and frustration and his line illustrations are extraordinarily expressive and lively. This new one deals with gratitude with all Willems' customary warmth and vigour. And it includes a little surprise gift.

El contenido es muy bueno para niños que su lengua materna es diferente al inglés, frases cortas pero de uso común y además es entretenido (la historia y los dibujos). Es buen material y de pasta durable
