The instructions said to unfold and let air out (in case of any new product odors) and to allow any creases to relax so I did and they did within a couple of days with no problems.
It's furry and soft but it is kind of slippery- especially if you're wearing socks. Not a big deal but something to be aware of.
The fibers have a slight shimmer and the blue color is nicely saturated.
The base of the rug is cushiony so it's nice to have that extra softeness there.
My little grandsons came and stayed for a few days and they loved it. They would lay on the rug and play or would lay and make "rug angels" (like snow angels) as the pile is high enough with enough movement that they could do it.
Washing it was a bit of effort as it's big and unwieldy.
I had to fold it to fit in the washer and ran on the gentle cycle as instructed.
It is too heavy to drain on the gentle cycle though (in my front loader) and it didn't rinse well so I had to run it again with no detergent and then again on just the "rinse and drain" only cycle.
The instructions said to not place in the dryer (honestly, it's too big for my dryer anyway) so I had to use a portable clothes drying pole, and drape it in probably not the most efficient way with it being partially folded so that it wouldn't tip over the pole.
It took probably 2 days to dry like that since I had to readjust it a couple of times to ensure enough airflow.
While the rug is wet and while drying, it looks like the fibers got all crinkly but a quick brush over with your hand fluffs it back up.
It wasn't as much work as it sounds and really, it's turned out to be a really nice rug so I'd say it was worth it.
The wavy stripey design is probably better for a kids bed- or playroom than the general public areas of the house.
I had it laid in the kitchen while the grandkids were here so they could play on it and bits of food ended up being dropped on it and whoa, was that annoying as the long fluffy fibers would wrap around anything that had any moisture.
