-beautiful and unique
-holds a lot of books for the footprint compared to a traditional bookcase
-seems good quality for the price, spins effortlessly
-base is heavy and sturdy enough that it seems unlikely to tip over without a lot of force
-assembly is fairy straight forward & easy. You only need a screwdriver. It probably would have only taken me 30-60mins if I wasn’t juggling a 1 year old trying to sabotage my every move. Even with distractions and a tiny circus, I had this up and going in under 2hours.
Cons:
-the edges of the acrylic plexiglass are a little sharp. My four year old did get a light superficial cut while I was assembling, however, the bookcase was on its side not fully assembled and she zoomed a matchbox car across the plexiglass after I had told her not to touch anything. There haven’t been any other cuts now that it’s assembled and upright but I’ll update this review if it turns into a bloodbath, bandaid depleting Armageddon.
**The total diameter of the unit to spin freely is approximately 19”. I knew it would be wider than the 13.6” square dimensions but I underestimated just how much room extra room would be needed.
-be prepared to wipe/buff out little fingerprints on the acrylic with a microfiber cloth. Nature of the beast unfortunately.
Pro or con:
-The wood seems sealed and is very smooth but does have a natural, unfinished look. It could be easily sanded and stained or painted.
Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase despite the list of cons. My 6 year old is over the moon happy and thinks it’s the coolest bookcase he’s ever seen. Time will tell how it holds up with fingerprints, sharp edges, and breakage. I’ll update this review if anything changes!
