Review

"....Each page is filled with so much happening and wonderful details that keep us finding new things each time we read the book. ...I think that children as young as two and up to around six would enjoy this book, year after year."-Parent, epinions.com

"This is a fun, funny counting book perfect for the Halloween season. It's one of those books that both my six and two year old just loved from the very first read."-Parent, amazon.com

"We just got this book and it is excellent. My 3 year old loves it. She is "reading" it to herself already. We love looking for the ghosts on every page and the story is really cute. ...this is a fun, fun, fun book, we were laughing out loud."-Parent, amazon.com

From the Author

A child can experience the book by seeing the number on each spread, then finding and counting that many ghosts in the illustration. The rhythmic text is especially engaging for emergent readers. Many 'pre reading' children memorize the book and enjoy showing others how they can 'read' it.

Another Great Halloween Book
Prepare yourselves, mortals and ghost story enthusiasts, for I am about to spin a spine-tingling yarn about "Ten Timid Ghosts (Read With Me Paperbacks)" – a ghastly gathering of ghoulishly funny spirits that will tickle your funny bone and haunt your heart in the most delightful way! Picture this: Ten timid ghosts, quivering in their spectral boots, attempting to outwit a bold and mischievous witch. It's like a ghostly game of hide-and-seek with a dash of comedy and a sprinkle of Halloween magic. The ghosts are so timid; even Casper would give them a pep talk on courage. Now, onto the witch – oh, the witch! She's not just a villain; she's a trickster with a flair for humorous hocus-pocus. Her attempts to scare the timid ghosts are more amusing than a skeleton doing the cha-cha. It's like she's auditioning for a stand-up comedy special in the spookiest comedy club in the afterlife. But here's where the real magic happens – the illustrations. Jennifer O'Connell has painted a visual masterpiece that's both spooky and giggle-inducing. The expressions on the ghosts' faces as they face the witch's antics are priceless – from wide-eyed terror to befuddled bewilderment. It's like the illustrations are in on the joke, conspiring with the ghosts to turn the pages into a ghostly giggle-fest. Now, for the skeptics who might question the necessity of a Halloween-themed ghost story, let me assure you – "Ten Timid Ghosts" is not just a book; it's a spectral sensation, a treat for both the little tricksters and the big kids at heart. It's a reminder that even in the realm of spookiness, laughter is the best potion to stir into the cauldron of ghostly tales. In conclusion, "Ten Timid Ghosts (Read With Me Paperbacks)" is not just a Halloween book; it's a comedic séance, a pumpkin-flavored riot, and a delightful dance with the supernatural. So, gather 'round, unleash your inner ghostly giggles, and let this book be your guide through the haunted hilarity of Halloween!

The repetitive, rhyming text is fun to read. The illustrations are detailed; each ghost has his/her own personality. It is very satisfying to discover that the ghosts don't give up after they flee the house.

My son is 3 and in preschool. He LOVES all things spooky and is obsessed with counting, so this was a fun book to get. It has adorable illustrations and a catchy rhythm. I get a little tired of reading the same thing over and over, but we all know repetition is great for kiddos! As we count down, he’s learning what number comes next. I hear him counting backwards from 10 all day now!

Watch for cute little details in the pictures! For example, every new character is actually the witch dressed up (or she’s involved in some way, like holding the dangling spider). I also love the back page, which shows the witch riding off by the moon. If you look closely, she doesn’t have her hat on…. The ghost waving goodbye has it!! So cute.

Highly recommend adding it to your Fall book rotation!! It’s perfect for ages 3+, but younger toddlers will like the pictures and counting, too.

    Hope this helps! 😉

I bought this book for my 4 year old daughter for Halloween and she loves it! The book is about 10 timid ghosts who live in a haunted house, but a witch moves in and wants them out; she scares them away to the woods one at a time by using Halloween related disguises and props until there is only one "clever" ghost left. My daughter noticed in the illustrations that the "pointy head ghost" is always watching the witch from behind and figures out that it's really the witch scaring her ghost friends. The clever ghost flies to the woods with the rest of the ghosts and they come up with a plan to scare the witch away by banding together and forming a huge ghost to scare her off and their plan works.

The rhyming and repetitive text are so much fun to read and she's memorized it so we say it together as we read. The illustrations are really colorful and detailed, so much so that every time we read it, we notice new details in the pictures. I bought some white gloves and used fabric paint to make a face on each glove finger to make the 10 timid ghosts. We each wear a glove and as each ghost gets scared off, we put one finger down to act out the story. My daughter loves this interactive element I've added; we even read this to her pre-k class and they loved it, especially with the "ghost gloves" I added (see photo). The story teaches subtraction in a way by counting downwards as each ghost flees. We've read it at least 25 times since I bought it and it never gets old. Fun and cute book for Halloween!

This story is cute but I'm concerned about quality control. The fold wasn't stapled right so the book pages slide over on a weird angle. I don't know if I just happened to get a fluke or if it happens frequently.

Finally found this book on amazon after I couldn’t find it at any brick and mortar stores in my country as well as the usual online bookstores. My nephew loves this book and I finally managed to get a copy for him!

Ordered on 18 Jan and received on 16 Feb. I understand the delays due to the situation now and the fact that the book is all the way across the world. The condition of the book received is new and was packed in a standard bubble envelope.

Very glad that I finally have a physical copy to gift to my nephew!

My daughter 4 loves this book and so do I. I bought this for Halloween, but we love it and will read it all year round. We love the rhyming text, the counting down from 10 which my daughter (through this book) is now confident to do. Best of all though is the very funny details in the illustrations. Made me and my daughter laugh. A firm new family favourite book.
