- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2025This is a great cooperative game for up to 4 players. We have played this a few times now, my 4 year old will often choose it from the shelf and set it up completely on his own to get ready to play with me. I love that all players are working as a team against the trolley car. This has been great for practicing turn taking, counting, and working together as a team. A round of game play is relatively short which is good for my kid's attention span. I would definitely recommend this for a family game night with young kids!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024I enjoyed playing Picnic Panic with my self-contained class to emphasize following directions/rules, clear communication, and cooperation among my students. This could also work well for small families (up to 4 players), and if you want, you can have an adult help supervise the game and/or control the guest trolley when someone rolls a 6. The game is clearly well-designed. We've played it several times, and had a fun, yet challenging time. My class is a middle school special needs class, and they had a fun time with it, but it would be suitable for probably ages 6+ generally. The instructions are super simple, and for a bonus challenge, you can choose to have the players try to make it back to the picnic before the trolley as well. The game is well-made, and I recommend it.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2024This is a great game to teach kids the mechanics of how to play a cooperative game. Well-designed option for young children, offering an easy-to-learn cooperative experience centered around a fun picnic theme. Its emphasis on teamwork and eco-friendly materials make it an appealing choice for families with preschoolers. It's not a very complex game and so I would play with preschool aged to maybe 3rd grade.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2024So, here's the review in a nutshell: This game is not going to hold up to being played with by 4 to 6 year olds (the target age range).
As I was taking the components out of the box, I noticed right away that the board was already coming apart. It's not a solid piece; it appears to be made from layers of pressed cardboard - and those pressed layers were already coming apart before the game had even been set up. The token aren't too bad; those are made of a more rigid cardboard (or maybe its just that the layered cardboard holds up better when used in a much smaller piece?) and are pretty sturdy. The cards those are quite thin and were already bent when I unpackaged them, not a good sign. I will, however, say that I do like the dice; it's made of wood and is a nice piece -- I wish the other components matched it.
The graphic design of the board is not great. The squares that your cars move on are all different sizes. Some of the squares are too small for a single token to sit on them... and they will often need to have multiple tokens on the same square -- this was a REALLY poor design. If I can't tell which square a token is supposed to be sitting on, because they are so crammed together, how is pre-K kid going to?
Game play is SUPER simple. There is no real strategy involved; it's pretty much just luck of the dice. Probably fine for the target age range, although it will not hold any appeal for kids any older than the target age.
If the graphic design was of the board was better suited to actual game play, I might give this another star. And the components weren't terrible quality, it could also get another star for that. As it is, though, 2 stars is all that I can award.
