- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2023This book is one the best books about living in a community and inclusion that I ever read (as well as All Are Welcome) and I shared it with the classes that I work with during reading aloud periods. The children really enjoyed it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2023I love the message in this book. The story is engaging and the pictures are beautiful. My first graders enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025This book as a kindergarten teacher is a great read there are many ways in which it could teach kids these days about different social justice elements. It teaches very important topics about how everyone is different and but in the end you are all living in the same community and would like to get along. this book is very appropriate for ages 3, 4, and 5. I would highly recommend this book to everyone if they would like to learn more about how to keep people included and how to stick up for others who way not be able to. It is a also a good reminder for everyone that no matter race, gender, or abilities everyone is the same because we all have our differences.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2023This book shows that all people can come together and be good neighbors, no matter who they are. This is an important lesson for kids of any age. Books like this help our kids grow and become good people.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2023I bought this book for my son when he was about 9 months old. He is 16 months now and I've read this book a million times. He absolutely loves it and I love that he loves it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2024this book is not about learning your neighbors - it’s solely based on reaffirming LGBT. this is absolutely not appropriate for children. shame on these authors and anyone who attempts to solicit this to children.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2023With full spread illustrations, this Penfold-Kaufman book screams the theme loud and clear-Diverse people live in our neighborhoods and we should all live, work and play together cooperatively. Neighbors in the detailed illustrations are from a wide array of ages, body types and skin tones and many are shown wearing glasses, using wheelchairs, etc. The author-illustrator also include same sex couples-two moms are pictured throughout with their son and are expecting another child and two men on the neighborhood bus are seen kissing. The LBGTQ+ flag is also flying from the back of a child’s bike. With all the work and play activities occurring on each page, caregivers have plenty of material to discuss town businesses, community helpers and other elements present in our communities. Some may find the pages too busy and other readers will love that they can look at the page more than once and see something new every time. The small figures, however, do make this a small group, individual or 1 on 1 book rather than one that could be read to a whole class.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2023I strongly dislike marketing children this children’s book for Pre-K kids showing symbolism with sexual ideology throughout its pages. Not recommended for young children.
