While it is cool and comfortable, it is not sheer. So far it has held up well to a few washings. However it does have a raised textured fabric, so may end up with a few loose treads over time. So far this has not been a problem and will be easy to rectify if I end up getting a few little strings. I have been pleased with my purchase.
