So far so good. These things are very light and hopefully their plastic doesn’t break. I have dropped it once already, but it shows no signs of damage. This product should be used to wave around in the air to touch the pests. It is not intended to “hit” or “smack” anything because it will break. I do however notice that I catch more pests the faster I wave it in the air (be aware of your environment; try not to break anything or hurt anyone). The flys that I manage to hit with this make a loud snapping sound. Sometimes they survive the hit and fly away, but most times they fall to the ground subdued, allowing you to step on them. Other times they get stuck in it and make a little lightning bolt arc shine from their bodies. This usually results in a burned smell if you continue to press the energizing button (which I will explain in a moment). These USB rechargeable zap rackets come with only one cord, but I already have another cord for a cell phone, so, whatever. The charge cord fits behind the yellow door at the base of the handle. I like that this product has switches on it. One on the side that cuts power to the metal completely, and one in the middle of the handle to control a light. Why it needs a light is beyond me, but it’s there if you need it. The main button that energizes the metal grid is the yellow button on the side. There are two LED lights on the handle. A red LED light that shines to show you that the metal grid is being energized every time the yellow button is pressed, and a green one lower on the handle that only shines to indicate when it is finished recharging. Oh, and instructions say it should be charged before use. It also says it can be recharged a thousand times (or something along those lines) because of the powerful lithium battery, but I have yet to charge it again (since the first charge after I received it). I have already killed around 40 flies and a few mosquitoes with one of them on a single charge and it shows no signs of weakening. Both rackets have fully charged within two hours. I have not shocked myself yet, and I have noticed that this is due to the safe design. I am fairly certain that shocking yourself is a possibility if you are determined to do it, but I highly recommend that you not. I am thoroughly satisfied with this product so far but I will return to update this review if I find any problems or flaws to adjust the star rating.

I spend a lot of time outside, and this summer there have been a lot of flies, as well as the mosquitoes and other flying critter at dusk and into the evening. I do so much 'waving' my hand around to fight off bugs, I thought I'd try these to eliminate the bugs with the same wave.

After a quick charge with the USB cable, I put them to the test, and these things work. There is a very satisfying spark and 'pop' as the unfortunate flying critter meets its demise. To operate, you turn on the main power switch, then press the larger button when swiping to energize the grid. (You have to press the energize button while swiping).

There is also a small LED light, and the instructions say to turn on the switch for that, and then the light will come on when the energize button is pressed. That is not the case...turning the light switch on turns on the light immediately, and it stays on, regardless of whether the energize button is pressed. So I don't use the light function, as it would stay on and eat up the batteries faster. So that function is useless to me, and really I'm not sure there is much point to the light anyway. Maybe in total darkness it might help to see the critters before whacking them.

I liked that this is a two-pack, it's handy to have a second one for another person.

Just got these and they work well, I will update if necessary if there are any longevity issues, but so far so good.

We are only two days into using our Zap-its, so I can't testify for endurance. But so far it has been fantastic! Both units (medium size) charged up quickly and held the charge throughout several long periods of mosquito purges. I am very pleased with the performance as we snap, zap, and flash our way through insects. The sound and visual special effects are rewarding revenge for being the target of previous bug attacks. Fights on.....

UPDATE: We really like our zappers and use them on walks with the dogs and while doing outdoor projects, but.... so far they have not lasted. The units charge and the LED light works, but the grid will not energize. You can light them up but no kill. Not even a sizzle! The first of our twin pack quit working on day 10. I used the lifetime guarantee info included with the zapper to notify them and had a new one in two days. Fantastic customer service, but then other zapper gave up the following day (day 13) and when I contacted again via their warranty instructions 6 days have gone by and still no reply. I guess I used up my warranty quota. I contacted Amazon for replacements and will receive another twin pack in days. I'm hoping it's just a bad lot. We really like how effective they were on black flies and mosquitos. Now the deer flies are becoming bothersome and I'm "out of ammo". Please just last 1 season and I will be a happy camper! Heck, at this point lasting a month would be great. A great product, now just give them a longer life!
