Marc Brown is the creator of the bestselling Arthur Adventure book series and creative producer of the beloved children's PBS television series, Arthur. He has also created a second book series featuring D.W., Arthur's little sister, as well as numerous other books for children.     I recently purchased this book for my nephew, because I remember reading the Weekly Reader version when I was a kid. I was happy to see that the interior illustrations are the same as the original, only the cover art has been changed.

    The artwork is really nice and is the best part of this book, in my opinion. It also has some good messages about not being afraid of things you don't understand and not making assumptions about people. It might not have the best stranger danger advice, however, as the protagonist enters a stranger's home while trick or treating, but to be fair, the protagonist is also a talking anteater, so...

    Overall, it's a really cute Halloween story with cool artwork.

    This book is a great addition to our Halloween books. My grandsons, ages 6 & 4, listen to it over and over. The clarity of the CD is excellent and the story is very helpful if your little ones have some fright about Halloween and going trick-or-treating. Arthur is a character that my grandsons could relate to because of his show on PBS, so they were excited about listening to the book. I did have a talk with them about going into strangers homes, however, especially without their parents permission. The storyline gave me an opportunity to discuss this situation with them again. It also showed how we can be helpful to our neighbors around us.
