Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Count to 10, explore the alphabet, discover shapes, learn about opposites, and find the missing teddy bear in this big, colorful board book. Sesame Street's beloved Elmo guides young readers to lift more than 60 flaps to reveal humorous and edifying surprises. Over the word "dry," Grover gazes unsuspectingly into a garden hose. Turn the flap and guess what happens! Grover learns all about "wet." A towering pyramid of alphabet blocks contains objects starting with the same letter behind each flap: alligator, book, cookies. Large, sturdy flaps allow rough-tough toddler hands to clutch and pull as much as they want with minimal risk of tearing. Children will adore the bright, bold illustrations of Jim Henson's familiar Muppet characters and beg to return to this book again and again. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

More than 60 sturdy flaps--10 to 26 per spread--are part of the page, not glued on, and are made to stand up to the repeated wear and tear kids are sure to inflict with lots of lifting, looking, seeking, finding, and fun!

Of course, it's a pretty good book if your toddler loves Sesame Street!

I think her first word was Elmo! This book is large, 10 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches. And it's easy for little fingers to manipulate. The "pockets" that you open is something you may need to show those little fingers the first time, but they get it quickly.

There are numerous opportunities for learning with this book; plenty of numbers, letters and shapes along with opposites of open/close, low/high.....very, very cute book that will initiate a lot of learning and talk with your little one.

All the Sesame Street characters that they are familiar with. Highly recommend.

I purchased this book for my two toddlers and they love it. The board pages are nice and thick and the flaps that open are thick as well so wont be easily ripped off by wild toddlers. Each page is devoted to a different learning tool (shapes, letters, numbers, opposites).

Bought as a gift for 1 year old. This quickly became her favorite book. Lots of flaps to open. The flaps are sturdy but she was determined to rip them off. We have had it 3 months and only half the flaps remain but she still looks at this book every day. Totally worth it for the price. Will probably buy another one when we run out of flaps.

The flaps are very stiff with sharp edges, making it unpleasant for a child to run their hands across the pages. It also means that they don’t lay flat once you bend them to open them. The pages have lots to look at though with really nice Sesame Street illustrations, which is nice! Some of the words underneath the flaps are a little too specific for a 1.5 year old but I give them different descriptions and she likes it well enough. (Example: Sneakers instead of simpler “shoes,” or shirts in the closet instead of “clothes”)

A great quality lift-the-flap book - perfect for toddlers. I was surpised by the size of this when it came - it's much larger than I expected (a bit bigger than an 8.5x11 piece of paper) - but if you read the full description details you probably won't be as surprised as I was.

The flaps are very sturdy - much more so than any other lift-the-flap book we have...in fact this is the only one that has all the flaps. I bought two other ones - the "Where is Baby's Belly Button" one - we've had it less than a week & we're missing a flap already...

The only kinda annoying thing for me was opening all the flaps. It comes with the flaps not quite 100% cut open yet - it's kinda like if you've ever had one of those christmas avent chocolate calendar things - where you have to open each flap to get to the candy inside - the flaps are basically just like that (well - to be honest - I haven't had one of those in well over a decade...so I'm assuming they're the same now as they were then...). But it's not a huge deal - you do have to be a bit careful with one or two them though when doing this just cause they're odd shaped flaps (like the triangle kite one).

But my son loves this - and he's still not found all the flaps yet (he won't let me show him...I'm not allowed to help him - or really even touch this book when he's playing with it...I have to read from afar as he opens each flap). I highly recommend this to anyone frustrated with a lift-the-flap book that no longer has any flaps.

I bought this for my son since it was one of my daughters favourite books too. It’s quite large in size (about the size of a large cereal box) and every page comes with different flaps to be opened. Each page teaches something different from counting to shapes. Both my children absolutely love going through every flap. Highly recommend for anyone with a toddler to pre-k
