- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseIf I could give this product a million stars I would. It is the best curly hair product that I have used. I love the way it makes my curls feel and my hair smells great and stays fresh for a few days.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2025Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseThis is my favorite shampoo and conditioner. I have natural curly hair and this works great and I only have to use a small amount. I have a lot of hair and it only takes about a dime size of the shampoo and conditioner. I use ALOT of product on my hair, and that small amount works great. Makes these last a very long time. The bottles are small, but considering the amount I use and the fact I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, they last forever.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2024Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseI have 2C wavy, very fine hair. I took the quiz on the brand website and this was the product recommended. I love that the products are curly girl friendly. For a sulfate free shampoo, this shampoo produced a lot of lather. Far more than my other sulfate free shampoos I have used. However, I was nervous it would strip my hair but it doesn't seem to. My hair felt clean but still moisturized after using it. The conditioner had great slip. My hair tangles extremely easy and I need a lot of slip in a conditioner. It is difficult to find. It made detangling my hair a lot of easier. I did not like the styler in this set at all. It left my hair feeling sticky and tangled. IIt also didn't have a lot of hold. I've used it several times now and I will no longer be using the styler. I usually wash my hair every 5 to 7 days. After using this styler, I couldn't stand to go more than 32days before needing to wash it due to my hair being tangled, sticky and stringy. I would buy the shampoo/conditioner, but I would not recommend the styler in this set.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024Style: 3-Step System: WavyVerified PurchaseI have had curly hair my whole life and tried to hide it. I straighten it I blow dry it and just ruin it in general. There have been times I would try products to embrace my curl but I ended up giving up because it would make my hair crunchy or frizzy or feel like it weighs 10 lbs with product in it. I decided to give this a try months ago and continue to buy it. I recommend it to all my curly hair girls and swear by it. Don't forget to add in the sea moss gell at the end...promise it doesn't crunch. I even use this on my 8 year old daughters hair who has naturally curly hair. It's lightweight...allows your curls to breathe and bounce. Totally worth it1

- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2025Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseHoly fragrance overload!!! While the shampoo and curl cream do seem to temporarily help my curls hold, my hair feels like it is no longer clean. Also, I dare not comb it out at any point during the day as it leads to frizz like I have never experienced. My hair curls into ringlets when humid and is generally wavy in dryer weather. With this, I get stronger waves for about 2 hours and then my hair is virtually straight. The fragrance is almost overwhelming and not something that my scalp seems to tolerate well as it has broken out.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2025Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseAbsolutely love this product!!! After just one use I can see a huge improvement with my curls! I have definitely found my hair product!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2023Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseI wish I wouldn't have got sucked into the advertising for this product...it is not worth it for so many reasons!! I washed, conditioned, and used the "all-in-one" step 3 on five consecutive occasions trying to give it a chance to work...waste of water, time and money.
1. When I ordered this there were 3 options to choose from, so I clicked on the Curly/Coily option and expected the product to be geared toward my curl type. Not so, the product I received said "all curl types". As any curly girl knows not all products work on all curl types. So to start with...false advertising. Funny enough when I clicked on the link before writing this review there is now only one option.
2. The shampoo, conditioner and "all-in-one" step 3 all have Shea Butter and Moringa Oil in it, which for any curly girl with thin hair should not be using too much of because it weighs the hair down. So you are putting both the Shea Butter and Moringa Oil on your hair 3 different times by using all three products. I have LOTS of extremely thick, coarse type 2C and 3A curls. This product even weighed my hair down.
3. Far more pricey than other options out there that work so much better and are available at local stores.
4. Bottles are made so that product comes out of the bottom of the tube, so if you try to set it down on a shelf after getting your product out without shutting it, it won't sit on the shelf due to the curved top.
5. Bottles are extremely hard to squeeze to get product out. If you have arthritis or carpel tunnel...forget even being able to squeeze these to get the product out without lots of pain. I wound up taking the lids off
and putting them in a plastic bucket just so I could slam the bottles into my hand without the lids on to get product into my hands. Major inconvenience.
6. With hair like mine (type 2C and 3A curls) the step 3 "all-in-one" did nothing to hold my curls. They were very soft, but no hold and became frizzy very quickly. I wound up using my favorite hair gel after applying the step 3 just to give my hair some hold and frizz control. I did diffuse my hair after each time. I cannot air dry...get too frizzy!
7. I had to wash my hair more often when I was trying this product out due to the weight of the butter and oil in it. This is not good for my curl and hair type....dries out quickly with too many washings. Not only did I have to wash more often I also had to use my cleansing shampoo just to get rid of the excess butter and oil so I wouldn't have unwanted weight on my hair...which also isn't good for my hair/curl type and drying it all out.
Will NEVER buy or recommend this product to anyone. I have learned my lesson and will stick with my favorite brand that you can find at Ulta and offers all different types of products for all different hair/curl types. Save yourself...DON'T BUY THIS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for shiny healthy curls.
Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseI love this Made in Canada hair product. I was losing hope as my hair was not as curly as it had been. This shampoo and conditioner has given me back my bounce. I especially like the Step 3 that goes on wet hair to style it. It doesn’t weigh my hair down or dull the shine.

3.0 out of 5 stars I waited to be sure, but I’m still searching
Style: 3-Step System: Curly (Regular)Verified PurchaseThis review will be thorough to hopefully help some people. My hair is as atypical as can be. It’s very thin and very fine (so much so that I laugh when people whine about their thin hair) but, I have always had corkscrew curl. I’m not putting a curl type here because so many disagree which is what – I see a lot of waves being called curl (which is often true genetically) and I see a lot of curl defined by hair type and not curl. Regardless. I’m pretty sure I should not have the curl I do, but it’s there. It’s so much there that I do not get recognized by new acquaintances often if they see me with straight hair then curly or vice versa. A couple times I had to go home and make my hair curly to match what was on my ID when buying liquor or picking up a parcel.
My hair is also very porous. I live in hot, humid pollution, with dry, windy, yet sometimes rainy winters. I use a vitamin C filter in the shower. Our water is not that hard, but out of everywhere I’ve lived, this water results in the worst styling. Two other places have caused impossible dryness. This doesn’t. When I was a kid, people sitting or standing behind me in school loved pulling the corkscrews and letting them go. I lost a significant amount of hair in 2009 and 2021 due to extreme stress. I have scalp visible most of the time unless I use elaborate, calculated trickery. So keep that in mind when reading this.
My guess is I may have the most difficult curl to manage because there are no products made for my hair. Volumizing shampoo and conditioners are impossible, because while they add volume, they also create incredible tangles. Imagine crumpling a spiderweb and trying to make it nice and neat again to get a comb though. I was shocked to learn people can just do their hair without conditioner. I normally go through conditioner at a much faster rate than shampoo, so the best I can hope for is to have 1/3 of a bottle left in my shampoo when I opened a new conditioner. Usually it’s more. I comb through in the shower after pulling some through with my fingers and rinsing it. Then I leave it on, thereby conditioning twice even with the same product. Products for dry, curly hair weigh my hair down like crazy. I also have an oily scalp. I’ve never been able to call anything “wash day” because most of the time between sports and life, every day, sometimes twice a day has been wash day. The most I can do is every other day. I had one stylist in my life who cut my curl amazingly. He still got frustrated trying to style it, but at least I knew I could work with it and get great results. When I look back, he had curly hair that wasn’t overly thick.
In April, I decided to get 8-9” cut off because it was breaking. I’d quit doing the curl thing quite some time ago because the hairspray required to keep the volume and placement necessary to look like I had hair was really gross to me. And hairspray was all that had ever worked for that.
Regardless, I was using far too much heat and I wanted to try to be more natural. I decided to try my natural curl again. I selected this because it is Canadian and minority and women-owned, but also because of the rave reviews I saw. I came across one person who had hair similar to mine, but it was as a result of aging and hormones. She found the wavy better for her curl than the curly because it didn’t weigh it down as much. I have not yet tried this.
I was confused by people who had complained about packaging because I didn’t understand the not being able to hold the bottle in one hand thing. I understand now. The bottles of shampoo and conditioner are quite hard plastic. There is only a cup of product in each bottle for the price. Once the product goes down, even though gravity should take care of keeping it at the opening (and I’ve used many shampoos and conditioners that work this way), this packaging it does not allow for that. So if you have weak or injured hands, or pain, I can see how getting the last half of the product out of the bottle could be a problem, especially if you can’t snap your wrist. When my shampoo was about half-finished, the lid somehow broke off. I can still stand it normally but have to be extremely careful picking it up and using it if I don’t want shampoo everywhere.
With respect to mentions of the curl crème lid not staying on, again, I thought it was likely just a weird random thing, but I learned that once a certain amount had been used, the bottle design was ineffective without product keeping it in shape. The curl cream cap no longer stays on.
The gel I had to give to my niece who has thick, fairly course hair. When I used it, because of how fine my hair is, scrunching it in (no matter how wet my hair was) resulted in fine pieces sticking to my hands when I pulled them away from my hair. A definite invitation to a frizzy cast.
Since I began wearing my hair curly a lifetime ago, I already knew water was the key, and I also used a wide-tooth comb to brush product through and separate the curl (creating clumps before it had a name, I guess). I’m speculating that the “curly girl method” is for people who didn’t know it already and is what is causing the craze now. People are finding their curl and pattern. (I should add I’ve always had to diffuse and style upside down to attain any sort of volume and best retain the tightest corkscrews my hair can pull off.) My sister, for example, had no idea what kind of curl she could pull from her hair naturally until she was in her late teens. So I think the method right now is what’s making the difference for so many people, not the products. This is because the drugstore brands I used throughout my teens and early 20s worked way better than this. Random products selected since then from basic to expensive have given inconsistent results, but many have matched or have been better than this. Some leave-in conditioners have been better than the styling products.
I had high hopes for this. Initially I was diffusing my hair beginning with it wetter than ever before. I have since learned that’s not entirely necessary. I’ve mostly gone back to doing what I did before, which is scrunching water into my hair over a sink with my hair flipped forward as I dry/style. I collect warm water in my hands and apply it to areas that aren’t as coily, or are drying too fast. The water bottles, while great, don’t work for me. The spray just breaks the curl by forcing fine pieces away. I did buy a curl brush, though, and use it every time. I don’t have too many clumps to be made with what hair I have. I have gone back to the trick I learned ages ago, and apply some hairspray before it is completely dry.
Initially, I did seem to get something from these products. It didn’t take long for me to start getting frustrated. Sometimes my hair was limp. Other times one side had corkscrews and the other side had S-“curls”. That switched sometimes. Eventually, I compared it to pre-cut curly days pictures and it was clear random curl products with my normal shampoo worked better. No matter what, I was using a lot of hairspray which I didn’t want. The feel is gross, but I’ve yet to find one where the smell doesn’t linger. And in humidity forget it. Limp, sticky hair, and a scent that followed me like a cloud.
My stylists said the shampoo and conditioner were really building up on my hair, and too add a clarifying shampoo to my routine. That’s helped a bit. So initially, I was happy with the way the shampoo, conditioner and curl cream worked. The gel never worked regardless of amount and whether my hair was very wet or less so. I used twice the amount of shampoo as I did conditioner. I thought I’d rinsed well after shampooing but the conditioner seemed to pull more bubbles out. So I applied it and detangled as much as possible, then I reapplied. I have sensitive skin and I found I really needed to cleanse it again after rising the products off my hair. It was irritating, but it also seemed to create a film on my skin.
I gave this three stars so it didn’t look critical. I see that some have had great results. I cannot say anything about this seemed even a bit revolutionary. I can say that it’s insane with those of us punished or gifted (whichever lens you see it through) with curl should be forced to pay this much for one cup of product in the hope that our hair will look good, or normal, or acceptable – whatever people think. I’ve had better results with other products. I truly believe that those who are learning to style their curl, that finding out how important water and defined/clumped curls to begin drying or styling with are key. Some products are better than others once you know how to manage your curl and bring out the best of it. For me, this line doesn’t even break the top 20.
