I love her how this author doesn’t rush her storylines. I don’t love the scenes where couples share a bed (even if it is to sleep). Nope, I’m not in my 50’s or above. I just appreciate the fact that clean means not sharing a bed before marriage. I also wish this author would add a spiritual lesson or truth in these books like she’s done in some others. These two things is why it has a 4 star. Beyond that I truly love that the first kiss is natural and not rushed. This relationship seems more authentic and real because of the building up to everything. I would have appreciated more of a backstory on Adrian, that part didn’t quite add up in the story. Still a solid story for young adult and up.

I liked the whole trope and thought it was cute overall but I did get tired of the never ending nicknames and the "I love him/her so much" every two sentences once I got 2/3 of the book. I also thought it would have been much better if we had a glimpse of their lives before moving and also getting more details on the mental health matters (e.g. when there.is a panic attack, I'd prefer many more descriptions than what were given.) Overall, it was a light read and nice to lounge around with but it felt rushed in multiple parts.

One of my book blogger friends, Cindy Davis at Cindy’s Book Corner, recently recommended Annah Conwell’s novels to me. I actually had But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor in my Kindle, and I was looking for a good Contemporary Romance to disappear into, so I started reading this book. OH. MY. GOODNESS…But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is the best! I devoured this delightfully endearing novel in less than one day. This was definitely another story I read well past my bedtime. I loved everything about it. Conwell’s storytelling style is one of my favorites — smooth prose, witty and flirty banter, and deep emotions. I felt all sorts of feelings with this read: I laughed out loud, I totally teared up, I felt warm and cozy and happy, and I genuinely smiled! It was wonderful. The characters are the absolute best. Juliette is our heroine and she is hilarious. I love her friendliness, her kindness, her loyalty, and her vivaciousness. I appreciate how she is able to pull Adrian out of his shell, so to speak. Adrian is a very closed-off guy, but it’s not without reason. He is the ultimate kind of hero — the protector hero. There is nothing more swoony than a man who lives to protect, and I enjoyed every moment Adrian swept in and saved the day. Juliette needed a hero, and Adrian is exactly the right man for the job. I love how over the course of the story Juliette becomes stronger in who she is because she feels so safe with Adrian. When you are with the right person, you truly are free to become the best possible version of yourself. I had so much fun watching these characters learn how to trust again, learn how to be good friends, and then, finally, fall for one another. It was one of the sweetest, most realistic, most relatable romances I’ve ever read.

But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor is a fantastic Contemporary Romance that I highly, highly recommend. I adored every minute of this story and cannot wait to get to book 2. If you’re a fan of excellent storytelling, wonderfully endearing characters, and running the gamut of emotions while reading, then this is definitely the book for you!

Adrian and Juliette are two halves of a whole. Both more introverted bookworms. They thrive on being the observant ones. Juliette wants to have more friends and make connections. But she is shy and twice burned by her past. Adrian is closed off and avoidant. He has been burned and betrayed and feels like it’s safer to keep people at arms length. Loved how she slowly thawed his heart. They were so adorable together.

I definitely enjoyed this book. The first 80% was five stars ⭐️ for me, only deducted one star because of how mushy and sweet the ending was. The book features Juliette and Adrian. They live next door to each other by a lake, he’s ex CIA and she’s hiding away from her past. I’ll admit that him being in the CIA had no impact whatsoever on this story. There wasn’t any action scenes or angst. It was all fairly low stakes. I thought she might be hiding from an abusive ex boyfriend but no. The whole security company didn’t have any relevance but maybe it will feature in Greyson’s story..? I would have liked a little more grump but it was actually very engaging. I will check out the next book.
