I expected this to be kind of that rough-ish, brown wood finish, but I was pleasantly surprised with the smooth appearance of the finish. Another bonus was the fact that the arms actually screw into the trunk of the holder, unlike most holders where they are simply inserted into holes. This looks nice on my countertop alongside the other mug tree I already had and lets me display many more of my favorite mugs without worrying about them crashing and breaking.
