    I cannot fully recommend this pillow for a sofa (what I was going for), where comfort is as important as eye pop. It might be better on a bed or side chair, where you would toss it out of your way. The diameter of this 16-inch pillow is a FULL 20 inches with the pompoms. The size and heavy textural cues COMMAND the visual space. If you're intending to create a pillow ensemble, measure and choose carefully. I would suggest adding or subtracting a full 4" for any adjacent element, including furniture backs. As for softness, it is NOT "cuddly" chenille, but "nice" brushed cotton. The backing looks and feels like upgraded burlap. On a sofa, it's uncomfortable for a human to recline against, but the dog is sure intrigued by all the balls. Thankfully, the chemical smell deters her. I'm going to try the pillow in different locations to see if creates an aesthetic worthy of its price, but I'm inclined to return it.
