Update! Changed from 3 Stars to 5 I got a replacement as the company considered this defective. I bought these shoes eight months ago, and my seven-year-old has only worn them for our trip to the park. Unfortunately, I've noticed they are beginning to show wear in an unusual spot. It seems that nothing is rubbing against that area, so I suspect the fabric may be too thin and is stretching more than it should when worn. The rest of the shoe is holding up great. I just wanted to share my observations!

    Shopping for shoes for three boys at the same time is no easy task, so I was glad to come across the Merrell Trail Chaser. I’ve had good experiences with Merrell shoes for myself, but this was my first time trying their kids' line. Honestly, the price and the brand were what caught my attention, especially since other kids’ shoes from unknown brands were more expensive on Amazon.

    The color selection was a nice bonus—I was able to get each of my boys their own color, which made it easy to keep track of whose shoes were whose. More importantly, all three say the fit is great, and I haven’t heard a single complaint. We went on a family hike recently, and the shoes held up well. The kids had no issues with comfort, and the grip on the soles gave me peace of mind that they were stable on rough terrain.

    I spent a large sum on a pair of Merrells for myself a few years ago, and I was so disappointed. They delaminated and laces broke really fast, and the tread wore down to smooth so they easily became my least favourite shoe. But I didn’t believe Merrell made inferior product. They used to be amazing.
    I bought my son this pair with amazon prime. We got them within 3 days. I was very pleased.
    Then the first day he wore them, the elastic lace broke. He has had to wear them until we get the replacement pair....that was the beginning of January. Amazon Prime sent me an email today stating that they can not locate a pair for replacement.
    So my file was closed.
    That is THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTING.
