- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2024First things first, this is my toddlers (20 month old) favorite book currently, she grabs it every morning and evening and hands it to us to read to her. I believe it’s the illustrations and the colors. So very nice job at that. When I read the story, I like the concept of explaining emotions and relating them to colors however when the subject is feeling overwhelmed with emotions, he’s told to choose the jars here they belong and separate them so he doesn’t feel confused… at the end all of the emotions are separated in their individual jars.. that almost seems like it is implying to bottle up the emotions… and I don’t want to teach my child that. It’s ok to feel all of your emotions as they can balance each other out but because I do understand the underlying message, I’m going to give it a pass but we should be mindful of telling our children they should put their emotions in a bottle. If you don’t think deep, it’s a great book and I would recommend!

In each installment, the Color Monster embarks on a new adventure, unraveling the mysteries of joy, sadness, anger, and more. Through whimsical illustrations and relatable storytelling, young readers are invited to explore the nuances of each emotion, learning that feelings come in all shapes and colors.
What sets these books apart is their gentle approach to emotional intelligence. Rather than shying away from big emotions, “The Color Monster” embraces them, teaching children that it’s natural and healthy to experience a wide range of feelings. By personifying emotions as colorful creatures, the books offer a tangible way for toddlers to identify and express their own emotions.
But the magic of “The Color Monster” doesn’t stop there. With each turn of the page, children learn valuable coping strategies for managing their emotions. Whether it’s taking a deep breath to calm down or seeking comfort from a friend, the books empower young readers to navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence and resilience.
As a parent, I appreciate the thoughtful approach to emotional literacy in these books. They provide a springboard for meaningful conversations about feelings, helping children develop the language and skills they need to express themselves in healthy ways.
In summary, “The Color Monster” series is a treasure trove of wisdom and wonder, offering children a playful yet profound way to explore their emotions. With its vibrant illustrations, heartfelt storytelling, and empowering messages, it’s a must-have addition to any child’s bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 year old loves it
My toddler son loves this book. It really helps him identify his emotions especially during this crazy time “terrible twos”. He’ll often say he’s “blue” if he’s sad, referring to the blue colour monster.
