Tree: A Peek-Through Board Book Board book – January 11, 2022
Purchase options and add-ons
New York Public Library’s 100 Best Books for Kids 2016
Through a hole in the book’s cover, an owl invites you inside to meet a majestic tree and all its forest inhabitants during the changing seasons. With clever peekaboo holes throughout, each page reveals a new set of animals playing and living in the tree—baby bears frolicking in the spring, bees buzzing around apples in the summer, squirrels storing nuts in the fall, and finally the lone owl keeping warm during the winter chill—until another year begins. . . .
Children will love seeing a new set of animals appear and then disappear as each page is turned, and along the way they’ll learn about the seasons and how a forest and its inhabitants change throughout the year.
Look for all the books in the Peek-Through series: Tree, Bee, Ocean, Moon, Home, Bugs, and Family.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseOkay, I haven’t read a lot of books for small children but of the ones I’ve read this is the best. The thing about books for little kids is that 𝑦𝑜𝑢 have to read it, not the kid. I don’t like kids’ books that are bizarrely random and I don’t like kids’ books that are insulting to the intelligence of both the adult and the child alike.
This book is excellent. The pace is perfect, the illustration is wonderful and the book takes you through a year of the life of a tree in the forest. As the seasons change so too does the perspective of the tree, those who visit it and the tree’s surroundings. All of the Britta Teckentrup books tie together, my kid always points to Owl in the other books and says “Owl!” when he sees him in the other books but the tree one is the one he likes the best and so do I. We do enjoy the other books in the series of course and I appreciate the author’s love of nature and I want my kid to love nature too. We love this book so much that I bought it twice because my three year old destroyed the first one. That’s tough love, man. Just think of how many trees made the noble sacrifice to make this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2024Format: Board bookVerified PurchaseI work for a tree service and several employees’ wives have had/are having babies this year. I’ve been getting this book to go with a baby blanket I’ve crocheted to give as a gift. This is such a beautiful book that revolves around the seasons and a tree. 💕
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2024Format: Board bookVerified PurchaseMy 14 month old loves trees, so of course he loves this book. He loves to poke his finger into the little holes where the animals are. I also love this book as an adult. The illustrations are beautiful and the story explains how trees and animals react to the seasons in an age appropriate way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, mezmerizing and informative!
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseCan't say enough about this book and all others creations of Britta Teckentrup. Definitely worth having. Great present for any child older that 18 months. This will be a book that they go back reading again and again and as the grow they start learning more about the facts it tries to teach. But the book is so attractive and beautiful that can take attention of any kid no matter at which age they are.
