BRITTA TECKENTRUP has written and illustrated over seventy children's books, which have been published in over twenty countries. Her books include Tree, Bee, Ocean, Moon, and Home in the Peek-Through Picture Book series, plus Big Smelly Bear, Grumpy Cat, and The Odd One Out. Born in Hamburg, Germany, and educated in London at St. Martin's College and the Royal College of Art, she lives with her family in Berlin.

    Patricia Hegarty has written books about all sorts of things from trees and bees to ABCs (and she loves to rhyme!). She lives in the beautiful Sussex countryside in the UK with her husband Rob. Hobbies include reading (she belongs to a Book Club that has been going strong for 20 years), travel and theatre and she is a recent convert to the benefits of nice long walks in the aforementioned countryside. Patricia began writing when her two daughters were babies and, thirty years later, she is still making up stories. She is currently Editorial Director at the Little Tiger Group.

We bought 10 new books for him because he’s on a reading kick and this is by far his favorite. He points out all the different animals and plants and names them and he loves the owl. Very peaceful and wonderful read for mom and dad as well. The whole family loves it. It’s a beautiful book.

    Okay, I haven’t read a lot of books for small children but of the ones I’ve read this is the best. The thing about books for little kids is that 𝑦𝑜𝑢 have to read it, not the kid. I don’t like kids’ books that are bizarrely random and I don’t like kids’ books that are insulting to the intelligence of both the adult and the child alike.
    This book is excellent. The pace is perfect, the illustration is wonderful and the book takes you through a year of the life of a tree in the forest. As the seasons change so too does the perspective of the tree, those who visit it and the tree’s surroundings. All of the Britta Teckentrup books tie together, my kid always points to Owl in the other books and says “Owl!” when he sees him in the other books but the tree one is the one he likes the best and so do I. We do enjoy the other books in the series of course and I appreciate the author’s love of nature and I want my kid to love nature too. We love this book so much that I bought it twice because my three year old destroyed the first one. That’s tough love, man. Just think of how many trees made the noble sacrifice to make this book.
