HELLY HANSEN - ALIVE SINCE 1877

From our home in Norway, Helly Hansen has been making professional grade gear to help people stay and feel alive for more than 140 years. It all started in 1877 when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen found a better way to stay protected from the harsh Norwegian elements. Soon thereafter, Captain Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched a business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil – and the legend was born!

Helly Hansen gear is worn and trusted by professionals on oceans, mountains and worksites. As the #1 apparel brand for Ski Professionals, you’ll find HH at more than 200 ski resort and guiding operations around the world, and worn by more than 55,000 ski professionals. Our sailing gear is worn by world-class sailors across all five oceans, and we’re proud to partner with and participate in some of the sport’s most iconic regattas and sailing associations. As a leading Scandinavian workwear brand, you’ll see us at work-sites where performance, protection and safety matter most. We continue to support Captain Hansen’s legacy through a long list of first-to-market innovations developed through insights from those working and recreating in the world’s harshest environments.

The colors are so bright and refreshing! The materials are soft and stretchy. No strange smell whatsoever. Very good quality overall. Can't wait to use it on my next hike.

I was super confident even before this baby was even delivered that I'd love it, but O.M.G.! JOY JOY JOY!!! This thing reads like an adorable update on Debbie Reynold's Singing In The Rain puddle-splashing outfit! I heard another reviewer say it was plastic-y, and with all due respect (given it's intended to be more of a traditional raincoat), nope, nope, nope!

This is not some cheap-ass, vinyl, inferior excuse for rainwear! No, this is PREMIUM whatever-it-is material (another reviewer properly sang its praises when defending it from the accusation of it being vinyl). For being a keep-your-dry-no-matter-what raincoat, it is SUPER soft and pliable and decidedly non-plastic-y!

When I read the review that lamented that the coat was unlined, I envisioned an interior that would stick to your skin if you were, say, naked and sweating, lol. But the inside of the material is a finely brushed nap, so even though it's not lined with cotton or poly or what have you, it's still wonderfully comfy cozy!

Now, on to the color. I was hoping for the vivid lemon yellow that showed up on my browser, but it was more of a golden yellow, like French's brand mustard. I’m averse to “dirty" colors (I hate muted hues and love Easter egg brights), so the fact that I still found this to raincoat to be a beautifully vibrant and "clear" color is saying something! Plus, it's an identical color to the soles of my navy-blue polka dot rainboots, so it's a match made in nimbus heaven!

Last, the fit: absolutely perfect for my 5'8", 115 lb self! Being tall and thin, I worried that it would be too boxy and shapeless, and that maybe the waist would be practically empire on me (a common problem). But the fit is super flattering, and the belt actually hit at my natural waist! Woohoo!

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE this raincoat and hope you will too! May you don it, head into stormy weather, and burst out in song (cue music), "Singing in the rain, I'm singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again!"

I love this jacket. Purchased for the dog walks in the down pours ! It is perfect. XS ordered, and it fits! I can fit a scuba hoodie under it which does not leave much space. If you are between xs and s, go with a small as it has a narrower fit.
I love the style as well. Definitely worth the price instead of buying a cheaper less waterproof coat
