Vine review - cervical pillow ***

I had cervical disc replacement surgery 3 months ago & recovery has been slow. Trying to do all I can to help it along, ordered this to help stabilize my head/spine position while sleeping.

My 1st-night impression: "This thing looks, and sometimes feels, like it came out of the Star Trek Enterprise."

After using it for 2 weeks now, that impression not only stands, it goes beyond. Where no pillow has gone before.

This pillow is made of high density foam; the cover is soft to the touch. The core is firm & does hold your neck in a secure yet (ergonomically) comfy position. And it feels high-Trekky sometimes in that it is chilly when I go to bed at night, even if the room temp & other pillows/bedding around it are not. I do happen to like it though; anything to help minimize sweat, stretching washing my hair out by 1 more day.

Reason for the -1 star down grade: There's two gripes I have, and really 1 is a personal gripe with myself but I know I'm not alone in the behavior so stating it here in case it might "speak to you" -

1. I'm a hard and fidgety sleeper so while the pillow is helpful in getting me to *fall asleep* in a proper position, I usually wake up outside of it lol This doesn't seem to have had any negative impact on my neck tho so that's good; but I also haven't noticed much positive impact either. I'm not sure if it's because *I'm* the problem, by ditching it an hour or 2 in? Or if the pillow is just a nonplus. Idk, likely going to be a case-by-case thing.

2. I like to read in bed before falling asleep - and because I'm reading from Kindle on my phone, I'm usually laying 3/4 on my side, 1/4 on my stomach. I put in quite the effort but couldn't find any way to make this pillow "work" comfortably for this. So I have to use a regular pillow & then switch it out for this one when done.

Overall, I like the pillow & will continue to use it. It does the job it claims to do: stabilizes my neck in a comfy position whether laying on my side or back. Even if I do ditch it at some point during the night, I feel like however long I *did* use is worth it -- it can't hurt; it can only help!

I was told to get a cervical pillow to help me with my sleeping and not waking up with a sore neck. I did use this pillow for awhile but just isn't what I like. The pillow is not at fault as it seems to be made very well. It is soft and does form around your head supporting your neck. There is also a cooling effect with this pillow. I just can't get comfortable with it and have went back to my regular pillows. This pillow is kind of heavy and since I toss and turn most of the night I just didn't like using it. Sorry that this is not a good review but as I said it is not the fault of the pillow as it is the user.

This is very similar to a previous memoryfoam pillow I tried, then only difference is the extra width. I don’t think this adds anything except perhaps some stability if your head moves away from the centre.

This is a generic memory foam pillow and it feels the same as all the other cheap ones I have tried. It’s soft, despite having a firm core, giving that classic feel. It takes a while to get used to if you are new to it, but after a couple of nights it should be fine. Remember to let it off-gas for at least 24hrs before use as the gas isn’t a nice thing to be breathing in.

In terms of comfort it does the job of stabilizing the neck, you just have to able to stay in position all night. For people who move about a lot this pillow may not be for you, as it’s only really comfortable in one position. It can also be used to prevent knee/thigh rubbing, and has a cooling effect which is great for the head.

Overall this gets four stars as it does the job at a reasonable price.

I haven't got on with this at all. It doesn't suit my posture or sleeping position and it actually kept me awake. It may be because I have a comfort pillow, ie one that I take everywhere and I always have with me, even when travelling. THat means anything new or a different texture or size keeps me awake. I have a lot of joint issues, shoulder issues and neck problems. But this just didn't do it for me.
