Reading through the questions it wasn’t clear that the choices given are both single and double . I thought the seaming taped two carpet edges to look as one and secured it down as well. I’m not that special so I’m sure it’s happened before. The seaming is for joining two pieces together that does not need to be in a permanent spot. I’m using the double sided tape to lay carpet in the driver and passenger sides of my RV. Just pay close attention to the discretion. I’ll try it with the double sided layer first but have no confidence.The double sided tape DOES NOT stick to the back of the seaming tape. The double sided is sticky but it’s lack of mass and thickness makes the adhesion not a permanent bond. Like wax on your car, I was looking for a clear coat type of bond.JL

in 2016 i ordered a long hall runner.. a cheap one at $85 delivered..
when it arrived it had a rip near one end (thanks UPS.. no, really thanks!)..
the vendor sent a replacement and said to toss the ripped carpet..
so i left it rolled up in the garage since just last week when the wife complained about wear to the tile flooring in the laundry room..
[insert lightbulb moment here]
so took the ripped runner, rolled it out in the laundry room between the metal bread racks and the 2nd refrigerator, cut the ripped 18 inch part off and used the carpet tape to 'fix' the rip and attach the cut piece to the side of the long runner into a short "T" and VIOLA! laundry room has a nice carpet to protect the tile with the short part to the doorway..
happy wife, happy life, all for the cost of a roll of carpet tape..
if it fails to hold in the furure i'll sure retreat from the red head wifes fulminations and edit this review.. :-)

Works great! I used it to hold together carpet tiles to make an area rug for under my dining room table. BRILLIANT! Guess what else? It's been about a month and so far 2 tiles have gotten soiled. I was able to lift them off of the tape with some effort and replace them with a clean tile (reusing the existing tape.) I'm not sure if this "removable" quality will stand the test of time or not....but so far I couldn't be happier. I have an extra roll on hand, too, in case I need it.
