My family enjoyed the fun story, the gorgeous illustrations (which sparked many conversations), and I appreciate the diverse representation.

We decided the man upstairs is a food inspector and his role in the story gave us an opportunity to talk about how he could have been included but was left out even when the rest were celebrating. Stories that give us a chance to celebrate what happened but also notice what the characters could have done differently are good stories!

I just got this book and I love it! I read it to my two daughters (7 & 4 y.), they were amazed and we had great fun solving the case of the stolen turkey. Besides that, this book tells a wonderfull story about the true christmas spirit: everybody coming together in peace, sharing food and just enjoying life & happyness.
Best book!

Leaving a turkey overnight unrefrigerated breeds salmonella. The man who threw the turkey in the garbage is a hero not a villain.

What a refreshing take on Christmas with a few surprising plot twists, a diverse cast, and the realization that life's better together. Beautifully told and illustrated. Will read and re-read every year.

This book is heartwarming and funny with beautiful illustrations. But most importantly, it reflects my daughters' experience living in an apartment building with many diverse families. The 1-star review is unfair because the ending was just a silly twist. Have a heart! We read this at the library but I am buying a copy to read every Christmas season.

This is a cute book about celebrating Christmas in an apartment building and coming together with the diverse families you live by.
The ending is a little silly but doesn't deserve the 1 star review. I really enjoyed this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated book for older children
Reviewed in Australia on February 1, 2024
This book was beautifully illustrated but unfortunately the story line wasn’t suitable for my younger children. Would be great for children slightly older who would be able to consider some of the issues raised by the family’s Christmas Day journey.
