OK, but....
6/9/24 Just got this a few days ago, and have made 2 batches. First batch was with a "Dark & Bold" coffee that was probably too fine a grind. Didn't really taste like coffee to me, but to each their own. It was a relatively inexpensive brand. Second batch was Peet's French Roast (ground) ....also too fine, but much better flavor. I didn't brew either batch in the refrigerator, but at room temp to see what the difference would be. Then stored it in the ref the next day. I'm still experimenting, and want to try different temps & times. I filled the filter with 75g coffee, and added water through the top of the filter until it reached the 1.1L line (I added on the side of the carafe), but doubt the coffee at the top gets as much contact with the water as do the grounds under the water. One suggestion for the manufacturer.....instead of a long filter, have a shorter filter that would hold as much, and screw onto a rod to hold it down under water at the bottom. As is, the water level (1.1 liter) is below the top of the coffee at the top of the filter. Though I like the way the filter unscrews at the bottom for cleaning. But a short squat filter would still be better, and easier to clean. 6/11/24 Note: just realized by adding water to the 1.1L mark AFTER inserting filter with coffee, probably was less than 1.1L water as the filter with coffee displaced water. Not a big deal, but just wanted to point it out if you want to keep the coffee to water ratio as specified by manufacturer. Yesterday, I cut off the bottom 2 inches of the filter, put 6 level coffee measures (using the scoop provided with the Gator) in a bag with draw strings, added cold water to the 1.1 L mark, added the bag, and inserted the shorter filter on the top piece, which holds the bag on the bottom, allowing all the coffee to come in contact with the water. I let it brew at room temp for 6hr, and then put it in the refrigerator overnight. Still experimenting with temps & times, grinds & beans, but using the bag is better, imho, than the long filter. And just throw the bag away, or re-use. 😉👍 (see images)
