I only wish I had discovered these sooner. I drink through a straw for EVERYTHING. Water, iced coffee (I only drink it iced), lemonade, soda, tea, everything. I have very sensitive teeth, and using a straw helps direct the flow of liquid away from my teeth, to avoid pain. I had been recycling my plastic straws, or so I thought, turns out, they probably aren't actually being recycled. Anyway, so queue the guilt, I am sending a lot of plastic to landfills. Searching for an environmentally friendly option, glass and stainless steel straws aren't for me, as I can't manipulate the straw to fit the shape of my mouth. Paper straws gross me out. I was so excited to discover these, AND the fact they are long enough for my favorite stainless steel tumbler.
I washed them first in hot soapy water, and scrubbed them well with the included brushes, which worked fine. They are meant to be very flexible, so they are a little flimsy, just take care not to jam them into the straw as if you're scrubbing metal or something.
The first beverage I tested was lemonade, and I could still "taste" the straw a bit. I rinsed out the same straw, and tried an iced coffee. There was no odd taste with that, so perhaps I just didn't scrub them as well as I thought initially. Don't skip the washing part!
I'm putting one in a zippered to take with me. They are a little long, so it might look weird, but I don't care. I don't forsee lint or anything being an issue if I don't just toss a bare straw into my handbag.
So, I feel this is a great product. Reusable, environmentally friendly, pretty colors, wonderfully malleable. I am extremely pleased. Bye bye plastic!

Close to perfect for me - with some work
This is a 32 oz water bottle. When I drink from it, I also swallow a lot of air. So using a straw was the fix for that. Finding a straw LONG enough was the problem. Well, this definitely works with a few caveats. Yes, it is long enough to reach the bottom of the bottle and also have enough to comfortably extend out the top for sipping. Seemingly perfect but not quite. One does need to make adjustments to reach the level of perfection. 1. Clean your straw with the brush BEFORE you use it. Just rinsing will not do it and I got a very slight but noticeable plastic taste. Guess, it was some kind of coating from the manufacturing process. Use the brush with plain water and it is completely gone. 2. For this bottle, it is a tight fit and one will need to work at getting it through the bottle opening. It's not a big deal but don't expect it to slide through effortlessly. Run hot water over that end of the straw will make it more pliable if needed. Using a slight pushing twisting motion helps. One more thing, stupid me tried this by inserting the straw DOWN into the spout ....... No, no, no! Duh moment, insert it from the bottom up through the spout. 3. The spill-proof cap WILL NOT close with the straw in the fully extended position. Why ....... you ask? Because this bottle has its own silicone plug attached to the cap to make it truly and absolutely spill and drip proof. Did I say that I absolutely love this bottle? Well, I do! Solution to this is to pull the straw back into the bottle about a 1/4" below the top of the sip spout. Problem solved but this works if you leave the bottle open for extended periods of time. It works for me because it sits on my desk. So, to transport this one would need to pull the straw back into the bottle and to use it one would need to open it up and push the straw back up. I'm not a sip and walk kinda person. This will not work if you are. So to make this straw work, it takes work. I'm perfectly OK with that. 4. Oh, I had submitted a question about using this for bubble tea. I did not get a definitive answer but I bought it anyway. NO, you cannot use this for bubble tea. The tapioca balls are too large and it will not work.
