The pastel colors are attractive, and the flames have a slow flicker change of brightness. Some other brands have flames that move, but these do not. They came well packaged, and the foam insert had room for a remote control, which is not included and not needed. On-off switch is on the bottom. Batteries probably last longer without using power for tiny motor that wiggles some flames or for radio receiver that would otherwise be on all the time waiting for signal from a remote control. Batteries not included, but that's good because cheap batteries might leak in shipping or storage. I'm not complaining -- just describing.
